Pot size question

Hello, I'm going to be start my first guerrilla grow in about a month. I am by no means an expert in how much space these little fellers need for their roots. So I'm seeking the expert opinion of a veteran grower. I'm going to grow a northern lights, in a biodegradable peat pot. I plan to put into a larger pot once roots show signs of penetrating the peat walls. My question is, how much space do these guys need. I know that some strains need at least a 5 gallon container. However, I need to know exactly how much these northern lights will want to root so I don't get a humongous bucket and bust my balls trying to flush that. Thanks in advance!

and you dont grow in buckets out doors man you dig 3 ft by 3ft holes and fill them with quality soil

I'm sorry, I meant a stealth grow. I'm growing indoors, and I also plan to lst the plant.

As big as space allows. It's a short timer so it won't be crowded long.

Rule of thumb is 1gal per foot of height, however, it's not exactly linear. a 1 gal can do a 2 footer no prob, and an 8 footer will take like a 25-35 gal or more

I grow in 10 gallon pots, and my plants finish at 4-6 ft tall and they are root bound

then why did you call it a guerrila grow? guerrilla growing is out doors indoor growing is just called "indoor growing"

Well I accidently put guerrilla instead of stealth. Is a simple mistake illegal or something?

25 gallons? Do you mean 2-3 gallons?

the way i do it is a gallon for every month they will be in it thats inside and i just use 30gallon pots outside

No. 5-gallon minimum. Do you have an idea of the actual size of these containers?

Yes I do. It's a single plant, which is an indica dominant. Will the roots need that much space?

Walmart sells plastic bucket pots in their garden section. They are something like 27 liter (6-7 Gallon)capacity, for $5. That should be plenty adequate for one plant. It's what I use and I feel I have plenty of space for an indoor grow.

i use 10 litre polythene potting bags they are bags that once finished you can dump the soil the bag and the root stump all at once.

it helps to keep disease at a minimum as you are using new pots constantly.

they will take an indoor 3 month plant no problem.

1 week seedling grow, repot and 3 weeks veg and 8 weeks flower

gives you a nice fast turnaround of skunk and average yield is about 2 ounce per plant.

they cost 30p each in the uk.

you can get 30 litre ones for 55p

why put one plant under a lamp for a long time when you can get 12 ounce evry three months from 6 plants under a 600w dual spectrum hps.
these dual spectrums are great to stop plant stretching, you end up with short stumpy filled out plants.

I have a true Afghan Kush (seed source not disclosed). No hybrid, no cross unless other strains in that valley did it. WIDE ass leaves, so dark green it is unreal and skunky from week 3. She lives in a 22 gallon tub to finish her life out. Same with her cousin. I amputate roots weekly from the main stem area out with a weed puller. Roots touch the sides of the 22s 2 weeks after transplanting in them. In short for the impatient - you cannot use a container that is too large. "Too large" does not compute with plants. Those saying otherwise show proof. I have pics of mine! Root amputations regularly in big containers and they just keep on going!

The larger the planter the better the yield with all other considerations being equal. Period.

BTW I amputate because the root tips behave like the main stem only better. Research by real researchers have shown severed root tips then recover and form 2 or 4 new tips and they do it almost immediately within a day or two. 4! Tops just divide into two. The more roots, the better growth. Basic Plant Science 101. Plus it keeps them from becoming rootbound.
