As stated in title, I am going to grow some males and wanted to know if its possible to grow and identify males/females before inducing flowers? Reason is bc I want to grow large plants and keep them in veg state

keep the male in veg state or females? no point with males, i could grow a male in a party cup and polinate as much as a male grown in a 10 gal pot.(really the limitation is how many females you can pollinate and how pollinated you want them.)

no, there is no fool proof way to determine females, from herms or males before flowering time. thus why breeding to a high degree of quality is so arduous the only way to confirm phenos and special characteristics a lot of time requires you to flower them out, with experience after a time with a certain strains and your crosses you will begin to see the nuances that differentiate males from females early but like what has been said, there is no fool proof way to guess sex before there time.

No the plant must indicate before you can tell and 12/12 is the only way to do that.
...what  ????
...not true, cannabis will show signs of sex during the veg cycle if you veg it long enough......in fact, I veg my mums until they show sure signs of sex before I take cuttings.
...I would think you'd know better with rep across the board and over 5k post.

i disagree with you, how can you confirm you females are strong females worth keeping is you use this method? you could be cloning a shit ton of herms. jus saying.

and second presex is a good indicator of sex but often plants are mature enough to flower long before presex, and some strains will not show sex for a very long time in veg.

i personally find it more efficient to flower plants to determine sex, you still have plenty of time to get a clone if you didnt just take one and label it before flowering to determine sex(clones make better mother plants anyways.)

also im sure hotrodharley is well versed on the fact plants show sex in veg, but how long will that take?

How would one presex, what is the difference between the male and female or what are signs of a male? Time Frame isn't an issue. This isn't for pollinating, but just to grow a hemp plant

Nope you don't need to switch it to a 12/12 light cycle usually a plant will show sex around 5 weeks after sprouting. You just gotta check the preflowers.
Not for the inexperienced I'm telling you. If they come on here and ask they can post 20 crappy pics because they won't be able to tell.

Again I'm responding to the level of the OP here. If they have to ask . . . .. They only know when they see the "hairs". You'll see. That's why so many have plants in 12/12 and calling them girls with sacs hanging.

read a book, there are plenty of pics that show the difference between male and female. time frame and pollination are not the point of my statements they simply point out what is efficient.

hopefully you are growing a cannabis plant and NOT a hemp plants.:D
