Possible mildew? and whats up with the purple?

I wanted to check to see if these are issues and if they are how to deal with them. This is a picture of one of my sprouts. I'm curious as to what the white powdery stuff is on top of the plant; none of the other sprouts have this. As well are the stems supposed to be this purple because all of my sprouts seem to be this purple? I'm using a 2x2 8 bulb t5 with 6400k vegging bulbs. They are in rockwool cube and just transplanted yesterday into half Fox farms ocean forest and half Fox farm light warrior. They are about 5 days old from sprouting. The temp is about 80-84 during the day and goes to about 73 at lights out. I'm using ph water at about 5.8 to 6.2 right now because i herd rockwool tends to make the ph higher.

I'm not sure about the white stuff it could be mildew, but the purple stems is no problem some strains hatch like that I read somewhere that it means more indica dominate but I'm not sure if it's true. From my experience of growing tropical sativas (Caribbean) I've yet to come across purple stems from seedling to smoke.

ok cool thank you. Yeah i'm real worried about that white stuff. I'm hoping i can figure out what it is and kill it early if it's bad.

Did you try washing it off or you could try gently rubbing it with a moistened cutip and see if it comes off.

I was researching and i think the purple might be due to ph being too low and causing phosphorus lockout. The leaves are dark green compared to most seedlings; phosphorus lock out causes dark leaves and purple stems. Next watering im going to stick with 6.5 ph seeing how the roots have probably grown a bit into the soil.

Could be that but Im leaning towards genetics. When I hatch Jamaican seeds or any seeds that come from skunk weed 95% of the time they have purple stems and keep at least purple petiole throughout growth. From my understandings these trees also have indica Dom traits ie. Tighter nodes, darker green and broader leaves, start flowering faster and grow shorter overall than the sativas seeds in which I obtain from another heavy marijuana producer in the region. The sativa seeds are also always smaller than the jamaican seeds.

I guess that is true with the strains. That sprout is a mostly indica. The problem is that my other sprout is a sativa and it is also dark green and purple stem.

In my experience of poppin beans (which has been 2 years ago, still cloning) i looked closely and found white hairs on the first two sets of leaves, which i assume are for protective measure, small bugs cant get past them to munch on the tender leaves..look close with a mag glass..peace

AH! ok I'll take a peak with a magnifying glass. I think that is what they are, they don't seem to be spreading and don't look that bad in person. I tried giving them a little rub and they didn't even budge. Serious plus rep to you.

dude, you dont have any "lockout" on your seedling, its isnt even eating yet!... lol just relax dont fuck with it let it get a root system and some leaves before you go trying to feed it, that ffof soil u wont need to feed for the first 30 days it should be 12 inches or more tall by then i have had purp stem like that before, and ur gonna be ok mang! keep READING!
