Portable Air Conditioner on external timer?

I am concidering adding a portable AC unit to my grow. Ideally id like to control the ac using my sentinel evc-2 it monitors temp in the grow and it turns on / off power to a cooling device depending on a set temp.

My question is most portable air conditioners seem to have electronic controls that i think would reset if the power was cut to the unit.. does anyone know of a portable air conditioner that can be unplugged and plugged back in and start itself up?

hi dank, i think i can help. i have 3 portable units. all from home depot. you have to read the options for each unit some will restart some wont, but therewont be any guessing the option list will tell you, so if you read you will get what you want. now with that said all units recomend that you dont unplug them to turn them off. the ac units have temp contols that work well. when room reaches disired temp the compresser shuts down but the fan keeps running. the compressur is whats uses the bulk of electic not blower. they also come with remotes that have temp control a featured called follow me. this feature works nice, basically you pick a temp and you put the remote where you want the temp to reach. when remote reaches the disired temp it turns ac off until the remote gets warm then it turns ac back on. so you dont need to hook it up to your monitors. DONT BUY A SINGLE HOSE UNIT BUY DUEL OR DONT BUY ANYTHING.

my power goes out alot here in fl for a few minutes. all my units restart, i never come home to hot house

single hose units are the old style portables. they are not nearly effishiant{cant spell today}. basically single hose units use the air they just cooled to cool their condenser and vents it out to the outside of home. this creates a negitive pressure( vacuum) in the room they are in. when this happens the hot air surrounding the outside of room is sucked it warming the room. which makes the ac unit in a sence work twice. a duel hose unit draws air from outside of room to cool condenser and vents it back to outside room. no neg pressure is created and there is no new air introduced to room. this is better because now the unit keeps cooling and dehumidfing the air it allready cooled making it even cooler and drier. unit only has to work once in a sence. also more importantly a single hose unit well vent out the smells, a duel unit wont because the air cooling ac unit never comes in contact with the air in growroom
