I don't think it's that critical. I just gradually change nutes, like 25/75, 50/50, then 75/25. I don't go 24hrs dark. I don't really see the reason.

You could give them all a good flush before you switch them though.

So sad today ... had to do some chopping due to a security issue. Sigh..
OK Will Do.

WTF, WHy???????

cool man. i've never had any luck in pots with tomatoes, at least compared to the beasts that I can grow in the ground! it's a fair disappointment to keep them in pots and under artificial light.

I just had an issue where my best friend/roommate called a maintenance person while I was away, meaning they were in my home while i was in week 7 flowering. i know what my apt smells like when i walk in, not to mention walking past my room, so I had to suck it up. It's okay, accidents happen and I won't be in that situation long.

OMFG, That sucks. You were so close. I think in that case, its time for a grow room tent that is hard and lockable. What state are you in? I feel your pain.

My pain right now it I haven't had bud for 2 weeks. So I am itching for a harvest.

All the veggies will be transferred outside once there strong enough. I just wanted to grow some other things. The Soy is such a fast grower. I might keep on of each species in the flower room to see how they come out.

I'm actually fine. I harvested several ounces of premature bud, some of which will make for decent smoke, and the remainder will go to bubble and butter. You can see them a week ago or so in my gallery.

The room has a keyed lock, so it wasn't a physical security issue. Outside of a weather-sealed door, it's just not possible to contain that kind of smell in that stage of flowering. I'm legal. I'm just not comfortable with an unknown knowing about my op, period. I'm not there everyday, so that is another concern. The last heat wave brought temps in the room up into the 90s as well, so it's not the perfect place to grow ... all add up to me saying fuck it, harvesting, and going guerrilla with the 12 girls and 2 unsexed seedlings in my veg room. I sleep better, and now I have a reason to bike/hike into the wilderness a couple times / week ...

oh yeah, and being legal makes being dry a non-issue unless I'm either low on cash or feeling particularly annoyed at having to pay for bud.

I can see that. I've never had problems getting my plants to sex even before I intentionally do. Shit, all my clones are in a temporary home for the last few days and are sexing because of poor light. Gotta get 'em under some MH before I put them outside ...

Mine are looking good so far. I had to take out some of the veggies and put them outside. I needed more room. These plants are getting fat.

I spaced them out more, and work on the LST. Wish I had time to grow and veg them more. But I leave for 10 days in Aug. And want to make sure I harvest and cure by then.

Do you guys think that will be enough time to harvest and cure them by that date. Thats 9-10 weeks of flowering. But I need what a week and a half till cured and dried?

If half are female, and I start to flower in a few days, how much do you think I will be able to harvest from this? 1-2 oz?

OK, So I decided to test the PH run off, and it shocked me to see 10.1-10.5 on my plants.

I started to flush with 6.0 PH, and used like a gallon, it the ph hardly moves down. I thought about giving them 4.0 or lower to get it down faster with less water, but don't want to burn the roots.

Is it normal for the run off to get this high, and is it normal to take 3-4 gallons of PH6.0 to get it down in the 6 range? I mean, that is a lot of water to use for flushing.

What should I do? I flushed half the plants and only got them into the 8.o range. I ran out of water. I only had about 3 gallons.

Help, need input.....:leaf:

IMHO... use as much water as needed. I flush every two weeks. Every two weeks. I have learned that the plants dig it and Arjan and the gang at Greenhouse flushe every 10 days. I use Foxfarm Ocean forest and Light warrior as a medium. I monitor my run off and it has stabilized recently. I put my plants in a 5 gallon bucked with a small pot turned upside down inside so the potted plant Is kinda off the bottom of the bucket and i just pour 1.25 to 2x as much water as the pot size. Check the water often and when it gets in range I stop. I then let my girls dry out for about a week before I start with nutes again.

Wow. Reading your grow journal just taught me so much.
Understand all this stuff about growing weed is a lot easier when I'm stoned, and when I get all the little details like this.
Kudos to you.
I hope you have a nice harvest!

Thanks, I needed that kind of info. I was never told this. One more thing on the list. I guess it will be another week before flowering. Going to flush the shit out of them tonight. Going to take lots of water. The one's I flushed to 8 range look a little better today. Thanks again for stopping by.

Did you start growing already. I love this site as well. I have learned so much, in little time. My wife hates how much I spend on here Vs. with her. She says she has less time with me now... Its that bad. But anyways, I love growing so far.

My 2nd grow will be way more productive I'm sure then compared to this one. I have had so many issues, Im not even sure If I will end up with very many females, from all the stress.

But it has been amazing how much they have grown back from the issues.

Nah, I haven't started growing yet.
I have most of what I need, but hadn't decided which kinds of lights to get, or soil. Going to get some fox farm soil i think tomorrow.
I think I might go with an HPS, it's a little cheaper than I thought it was gonna be, but it's gonna take a lil more work to fix up my closet to make it work. Idk, I might stick with T5. Not because it's cheaper to buy, but because I don't know if the HPS is gonna work out in my closet.

Which do you think is a better idea?

I wish I had gone with the T5 setup. It would have worked out better in the small size room that I buiilt. But that just means I need to flower earlier. I wish I could grow them taller. If I had a T5, I could grow about a half a foot taller, which means more bud(bigger yield). Not to mention less heat and electricity bill.

But, I am very happy with the $150 HPS from HTG Supply that upgraded it to a $250 unit. I have more growing light power then a T5, but I have seen some very good grows come off a T5 that made you think it was from a HPS. I have a 400 watt and its plenty for 6-8 mother plants. How many plants do you want to grow and what are the dimensions of your grow room?

You are also going to want a separate part to Veg them in. Veg room small, Flower room big.

This is what I built for my grow room.

T5s just won't match up to HPS for budding. They're great for conserving electricity when you can get away with less lumens, like for maintaining mothers. They still don't match the efficiency of HPS, and the spectrum just isn't as good. For bud production, HPS is the right choice.

If i remember correctly, aren't you in FF? Which kind? I know they add some lime in there, so it's hard to believe that you're getting such crazy pH swings. What's your water pH at?

New pics?
