Pool Shock in cloners for 100% success EVERYTIME.

Just wanted to drop by to say thanks, AP. The pool shock is amazing! Everything is rooting beautifully with thick, hairy white roots. I'm keeping my aero cloners' water at about 85 now, and man, do they root quick at this temp. I bought a couple of digital aquarium thermometers so I can see the water temp at all times. I also bought a top-of-the-line aquarium heater because the weather is getting cooler, and I want to maintain that constant 85 degrees water temp. I almost can't believe how well this works. I overdid it a little with the shock in the beginning as I was super paranoid about the slime rearing its ugly head again, so about half of my 36 clones got a bit fried on some leaves, but they still rooted great and are recovering quickly in flower. On my second batch I'm using the recommended amount, and all looks great. I've been struggling for months to keep my grow op full, and I've lost thousand of dollars with this recent cloning problem. If you're ever in Chicago, I'll buy you a beer ;)
Psttt , it's AP ;) super glad to hear it worked great for you brother ! Keep it simple and everything else falls in to place :) I'll definitely take you up on the beer offer if I'm ever in the windy city . Isn't it amazing how much fast they root with warm water Temps ? God , I wish I was summer now , I might is the idea and use an aquarium heater as well this winter , I just cut some clones and my water is 74 degrees . Crazy how most will say keep the water under 70 for Aero cooling , they just don't know the secret sauce :D

Hey, AP! Why did you start this sock account, I see your AP profile is still active. Just curious. Here is the heater that I use, it is super accurate and very reliable -

Glad to see you back, I hope all is well. Thanks again for all the tips and assistance...

One more thing, I started using dip n' grow, and I'm rooting a few days faster and the roots are much thicker. It's really cheap, give it a try some time ;)

They don't let you change your name here so I said screw it and made a new one lol. Thanks for the link ! I'm grab a heater and some dip n gro , is the dip n grow a gel? I used to use a gel a longgggggg time ago and forgot all about it after I took a break from growing lol. Sounds like a winner combo :)

i used it before . it just helps prevent mold and green nasty fungi . when i could not keep the rooms under 85 f lol even with all the ac running . keep your water cool dont need pool shock or bleach . and it only helps prevent this nasty stuff you still will get stem rot and no roots if your temp is off .

I run my cloners for 6 weeks non stop at a time in the summer with almost 90 degree water , haven't lost a single clone in 2 or 3 years with this method . I have however got root rot even when keeping my res water at 65 degrees without using a sterilizer or bennies. Low Temps doesn't keep away pythium 100% , it just helps , the same way calcium hypochlorite helps. In commercial hydroponic farms , if the farm isn't using beneficial bacteria they are running between 1-4ppm of calcium hypochlorite in a injector that keeps the chlorine a stable ppm and doses the water as it enters the main irrigation tubing.

Another thing that helps pythium not take hold onto a plant , is a healthy plant with healthy roots. Healthy roots are harder to infections. Pythium, however is everywhere . It's a spore that is carried around by air , water , it's everywhere .

What do u consider off temps.

How are you to use plant beneficial bacteria if you have no roots and little to no organic matter?. At this stage would it not be applicable to use a biological fish tank cleaner that would appear to be fine suspended in water for prolonged periods?.

reading thru posts about cloner slime came across post about using ammonia.
i dont have permissions to post the link.
its at greenpassion dawt org 30036-ammonia-to-cure-clone-slime
DOUBLEN said it solved his slime problem.
heed the warning about mixing ammonia with chlorine tho.

EDIT:
i think you should disreguard this.
i only mentioned it as it was what led me to this thread.
seems like just AMMONIA is asking for trouble if someone spills or builds up in a poorly vented area.
its bound to meet you pool shock or bleach if you are dealing with this anyway.
so
only isolated from those
only in a pinch

who votes i just delete this post?

Guess what? Slime Over
Roots Going strong! and I will transplant in the next few days to see if they are stunted or fine. I used 100 ml ammonia per 5 gallons water and ran for 24 hours and then emptied and refilled again with 100ml ammonia 5 gallon water ran another 24 hours and did that one more time. After the three days and three "strong" ammonia cleaning cycles I emptied and added 25ml to 5 gallons and ran for a few days then emptied and refilled the same way and been running since.

I looked yesterday and all slime is gone and much new growth of roots on each plant. The roots didnt regrow where the slime attacked but new root growth every where else. Had I used ammonia at the first sight of slime on just a few clones I would of knocked it out completely and never missed a beat.

So I for one will always keep a bottle around for preventative maintainance and for having a weapon for last resort. Next set of extra clones will get 5 ml per 5 gallons ammonia up front with an equal amount of micro and bloom

well yes i know.
the question was about shelf life.
it's a black bottle so i think that means it uses copper sulfate.
they dump that stuff in lakes and now its damaged the food chain.
trophy fish are gone and now the junk fish dominate,
i chatted the DM person on their site who seems to think its at least 10yrs old.
i'm thinking of dumping it anyways.
in protest of the cost. lol.
its just a hobby cant afford all the high class.
wallymart had the HTH for $2.
more comfortable fit.
