Pollination with paintbrush? How do you know if you've done it correctly?

Hello, I just tried pollinating one branch on my beautiful girl and I just wanted to ask, how will I know if I've pollinated her? It's been about an hour since the "pollination" and the hairs on that one bud have started browning and dying. That means she's been pollinated, right?

Thanks :)

yes the point of the white hairs is to reach out and grab pollen. once pollen hits a white hair it contracts into the calyx and creates a seed. so if your hairs are going red your good to go. the secret is not to pollinate the whole plant. good luck

Thanks guys.. I lst'ed about 25 tops on this lady and pollinated only one top.. It was actually fairly easy to contain the pollen to one top and it was uber windy :D I didn't use a bag or anything. It looks like about 10 or more calyxes have been pollinated for sure, but there are a lot of other semi brown areas. Should I pollinate another branch just to be safe (I want about 30 - 40 viable seeds which I will inbreed)

Thanks ;)

it does take a while for seeds to mature, 6 weeks is quoted in the stickies as the max time
are you going to be able to mature them properly in your outdoor grow? that would take you into November

Yes, I have about 5 - 6 weeks left. I will pollinate one more branch just to be safe and get more seeds. Better to have more than less :D I pollinated a super skunk girl last year and that was the most potent herb that year. I would say there was no loss in potency and I scored about 20 - 30 seeds.

I have a couple of photos of a branch I do a bit over a week ago, it will show what they looked like in 2 days. You will know soon also if by chance you had any errant pollen. Hope this helps and have fun doing this.

Nature is so beautiful!!!!!! :) Nice, canefan! That's exactly how mine look today :) I'm just wondering if I should pollinate another branch for more seeds.

i'll venture a guess, didn't take any pics of my seed buds, but they were smaller than yours
but if you painted it 'up and down', i.e. not just the top, then i'd say 30 seeds sounds reasonable, maybe a few more
