I started sexing some plants in a seedling tub I built that uses a 50 watt LED panel in a 27 gal Ruffneck tub. They were about a month out of seed and ~3-4" tall,in Solo cups. After about a week in 12/12 some of the plants appear to be male. Darn!
Some appeared to be not-male... yet. But it got me thinking that there is no reason to grow huge male plants if you just want a little pollen. No reason to put them in the flowering room and risk all the girls. Just grow your males in the 50 watt tub and let them mature at 8" tall, harvest the balls and then control the pollination of the girls? The Tub setup is about 17"w X 27" l X 30" tall, using a 12 gal tote for a base. Completely self contained and you can put it anywhere the Temps isn't too high/low. I've been hand watering every couple of days and the hood lifts off no problem for full access to the plants.
Is there any reason to grow males any bigger?
