If the cop had time to walk to his car, retrieve a scary assault rifle (undoubtedly black, with a pistol grip) and then shoot the dog in the head several times, I am pretty sure the dog did not have a death grip on the cop's leg.
I used to believe that pit bulls were dangerous, but after actually getting to know a few of them I have changed my mind. They really are sweet critters.
