Hi, this is a really simple question for any electrician on here...

What is the highest amperage draw you can SAFELY take from a single, normal household outlet??

Depends on the outlet they put in the wall. They have different ratings. Most are probably 15 amps if you are in the US. The wire they use is 15 amps so you can't have a weak link in an electric chain. Some use the 20 amp stuff, might find this in newer homes but most of the time, 15 amps. That is the limit because the breaker will be 15 amps also so you will probably pop it when youget up that high.

That's interesting about the UK, I'm going to have to read up about it now, because I'm also wondering why they went with 50hz instead of 60hz.....

i think we use 50hz because our standerd voltage is higher (230v).
our outlets are 13 amp but its a ring circuit on a 32 amp breaker at the consummer unit .
