Please please help rep points!!!

ok my plants are a month old from seeds, i am using the rainforest 66 from general hydro. i want to change the water in my res. for the first time and am a little confused.

1) do i need to or should i use anything like clearex?

2) once i drain the tank is it ok for my plants to just be "hangin" in the lid with the roots just dangling without being in any water? or do i need to put them in plain water while i am cleaning the tank? (it should only take me a few minutes to drain and wipe down my res. then fill it back up with water.)

is there anything else i should know about, things i should or shouldnt do? i am a little paranoid i am going to do something wrong and mess up my plants

I typically just flush my system with water over night, then drain all water from the res and then feed them. I do the detailed system cleaning between grows.

The plants should be fine for a few minutes, but couldn't hurt to have them in some RO water I'm sure, as if they get too dry they might have problems, and that wouldn't be worth it.
