Hello all,

I am a brand new grower (for my own supply that is) I have concern for these two 1 week old plants. The leaves seem to be pointing up but relax at when lights out. I am using 42w (150w equivs). Temp. 76.9F, humidity 61.6%, planted in soil, on a 18/6 lighting schedule, started from seed. Any evaluations and opinions are greatly appreciated. I need to know if these little ones are all right. Please help.

They look a little stretched but good other than that, you might want to add a little soil leaving just about a 1/4" of stem below the leaves and either move the lights a little closer or get better lights. The cfl's dont put out much heat so you can prolly get them about 3 inches from plant tops.

You should really have them on 24 hours of light for the first month or 2. But other than that they look normal. At this point as long as they are still growing they are fine.

so is it alright to pile up a lil extra soil around the stem? my plant is young and the stem is really long, to the point that it kinda leans to one side or the other, so can i pile up a lil mound around it to make it stand better earnie?

You can cinch it up with soil if you be real careful with the water there.
It'd be lanky due to insufficient light, or that light being too far away. You may see more compactness with 24 "on" regime.

i just piled up some soil around the long main stem...kinda like a mini-skinny anthill...covered up probably an inch of the really really skinny stem...is there anything bad that could come from this? i could always scoop it back offa there i figure..

First off, you need to get those plants in separate pots ASAP. If you don't you will regret it. Get those lights within 2 inches of those leaves, use 2 or 3 of those CFL's per plant.

Thanks I will replant one of them today as well as get some more lights. Would more light than 2 to 3 per plant hurt? I can add a lot of these as I ordered them in bulk. I was just scared of burning them.

If that stems mega-thin in A spot, I suspect death is eminent?

The more light, the better (on healthy, thriving plant)

the stems are even all the way up. They seem to be thicker at the point of where the leaves come out. Is that the way they are supposed to be?

There is nothing wrong with the plants relaxng when hte lights are off. They kind of go to sleep. I've seen this effect happen pretty dramatically with my plants. Nothing to worry about at all. In fact, i don't believe the plants are supposed to run 24/7 because i think they like having a short rest. Pure opinion there though.

Those plants will get big quickly, you need seperate pots. Try to go HPS if you can. 150w would be good for two plants.

When u replant put most of the stem underground, Weed is kinda like tomatoes in that respect any part of the stem touching wet soil will eventually grow roots.
