So i have a detached garage that is serving its "purpose" and today my neighbor asks me, whats that humming comming from your garage. Luckily the lights were off at the time, so i just told him i had no idea what he was talking about, he still pressed the issue. He then said well ill come get you next time i hear, i need some sort of an excuse or something, any ideas???

I'd flip on him, What the fuck is it any of yor buisness and how 'd fuck have you heard anything unless you are beeng a nosy fucking snitch bitch, and guess what you little cunt ,if I see you on my property again I will fucking shoot you and feed you to my hogs, and if I hear anything from you or anyone else ,or sence any heat I have a kill squad on standby to smoke your ass...Once you have him back to the wall sweating bulets smile and say "I'm just kidding man, cmon , lets take a look, show him that the garage is empty, cos last night you mouved your babies inside the house...If that dont take care of him I'd seriously start considering either mouving or smoking his ass... Or just mouve them inside for a day and have your garage wide open all day long, Im shure the fucker would look in, find nothing and go back to his own boring life...

Get a cheap raido and tune it to static and tell him you can't hear that low of a hum because your ears are screwed up and you forget to turn it off some times.

Build a buffel box with plenty of air flow and sound deadening insulation. Put your ballest in there and watch the temp.

Just have fun with him you know he's nosie. Give him other things to worry about, sic him on your other neighbors.

krime13 that is how stoners get bad reps. You want to be a good neighbor and not draw attention to yourself. Remember if he can hear so can others. Fix the problem/noise and don't piss the neigbor off and make matters worse.

The next time your neighbor asks or tells you theres a hum, tell him you have a dehumidifier and a old fan running. You are storeing some stuff that your mom, dad, brother, sister who ever has and you dont want it to get damage.
And thank him for letting you know about it,be nice as you feed him bs.Just be nice and he should let you be. Peace

Im just curious what the hell size ballasts your using that he can hear them from outside. Has to be a pretty large grow I run 3 or 4 ballasts usually and you cant hear them more then a foot away from them.Of course I set them on foam pads also to deadin any sound.Im guessin krime 13 is 13 as that would be the worst advise ever lol.Depending on how loud the noise is a deep freeze maybe a good idea but really go buy 1 when hes not around so you have the backup for your story or tell him you were in the garage listeing and figured out it was (A) a window a/c you will install before telling him or (B) you have a fan mounted to the wall and when you forget and leave it on it must be vibrating the wall some.

Or I thought of a good one to if its just a low hum.. I have a large car battery charger thats like 3 feet tall was like 200 bucks it sounds like a humming ballast but little louder.Tell him you are having it charge a battery for (A) your boats trolling motor (B) a lawn mower (C) a backup car battery

Problem with saying you have a large freezer in there is that you could be opening yourself up to getting caught out later. He could easily ask later if you could store something in there for him - you know 'our freezer's broken down, know you got one etc etc'. Better to say the noise is coming from something that he should have no interest in, for example like a dehumidifier or some sort of fan.
