PLEASE HELP!! does anybody know if i can use the nutriculture ph test card with nutes

i havent tried yet but can i test ph with this when nutes are in water or do i need a ph pen?

the reason i ask is because im using organic nutes with bloombastic and when they mix it makes water go really dark brown. i know if i ph test water before the nutes it will change ph when they mix, this is what i use..
