I used a 400w HPS and it went really pale and bleached. Though I like to save electricity and seeing as the plants don't need that much light when they are young (as my LED shows anyway : ) so why rinse 400w of electricity for veg when I can do the same job with 90 :)
 
so you still have a week or 2 left
i would not flush them any more just water with no nutes

tyke sounds like he knows how to grow and has been doing this for years, but this is how to grow a large strain with a large yield in a short time

but its lot harder to get right
you need to know what your plants are doing and if you are helping or stressing the plants out, this will come in time
my 600w mh are 8" above plants and looking very good but some of the other plants could not take high lums

but you could put your 600w hps 8" above the plants and it could fry them, you have to do it over time and see how your plants reacted and if you get it wrong you can lose so much of your final yield
i all way said i will tell you the safe way of doing things
you can still get a good yeild the way you have been growing them, it just takes a bit longer

this is Elliesdaddy first grow and leaning about nutes, temp, humidity, ph, room set, watering ect and you have tell elliesdaddy this

if this was his 4th grow + and wanted bigger buds, this would be good for elliesdaddy to know
 
Now i can't find any ambers but i also can't find any clears they are practically all cloudy guess i'll just keep the look out for ambers,
Would i be able to start 10 seeds in rockwool and keep them growing in rockwool for a week or two(including sprouting), so i can start off some plant's while i dry and cure then after they have been cured a bit i can round up the money within a day or two for the water farms, new tent, etc... I just don't want to waste time
 
Budz have grown well in there 12 hours of darkness!
Will be surprised if there is less than 2 - 3 oz on each of them!
Looking forward to what the next few day's are offering me

Hey Ellies :D. Its been awhile XD.

Your plants are looking very impressive. I wanted to stop by and thank you for all of the advice you gave me.

My WW x BB grow is in my signature. Should stop by and check it out when you have time. Everything is going excellent, and I am going to flower these out once the runt of the batch grows 3-4 more inches.

The Cocotek is a lot easier than I expected it to be. I never rinsed it and broke it down with my hands (and the MRS. xD), and it wasn't flushed of salts either. Turns out General Hydroponics Cocotek bricks don't need flushing.

Bah I am rambling again. I FIM'ed all of my girls, two were not as low as they should have been but one took it excellently. The third (RUNT) was FIM'ed a few nights ago and is bouncing back greatly.

Hope to talk again soon:D! And congrats on gorgeous girls.

P.s. Could you possibly post what height you recommend my 400W light to be above the girls when I trigger flowering and when the buds start arriving? Just stop by my thread, I'd appreciate it :D!

Yep you can put seeds in rockwool, just be careful, I've found that it dries out quite quickly, maybe find a tray and put about 2mm of water in it, then put the cubes in that. You can veg for a good 3-4 weeks in a 3" rockwool cube as the roots get air pruned and properly fill out the cube it's magical lol. Oh and make sure you rinse all the dust off and handle it with gloves, I've made that mistake, after a week it feels like you have thousands of tiny needles in your hands.

I also see your sold on the waterfarms lol :)

Because of the long light cycles it's usually economical/more energy efficient to veg under 'weaker' lights and as far as low intensity lighting is concerned in veg, so long as it is kept a reasonable distance from the plants they perform the same if not better than high wattage lights at a fraction of the cost, minimum distances from the canopy being, CFL's at 2", Fluoro tubes at 1", LED's any amount of inches seems to create the same effect with absolutely no stretching and very tight internodal growth... It's not about Lumens, Lumens are a measurement of brightness to the human eye... my plants don't have eyes...

It's all about PAR (Photosynthetically active radiation, I.e correct light wavelengths for photosynthesis to happen) and as far as lower intensity lights are concerned they have anything from 80-100% PAR which is way more efficient than ANY, HPS or MH bulb, the only difference is penetration (which is solved by keeping the lower powered lights close enough to the plants) but there's pretty much no difference between high wattage lights and low wattage lights in veg.

OH and he's now at the end of flower as said a million times over... this thread started as a help kinda faq type deal and is now elliesdaddy's grow journal.

And waterfarms i'm still 90percent on it's most probably going to be my choice
Thank's for the info on rockwool it's actually cheap as anything isn't it, i'm going to get 10 seeds just incase i get some bad seeds
Going to get extrema from sannies seeds it's mainly indica i think 20% sativa with a flowering time of 8/9 weeks
 
And matchbox i know, my loft is filled with insulation i don't think it's rockwool i'll look tonight but when i was growing up there it would cover my feet with tiny bit's of glass and it killed

what do you think about wet kitchen roll with the seeds in placed in a sandwich bag

and stored some where warm and dark
once tap roots are an 1" place in the rock wall

just make a hole in the rock wall cubes so the root can slide in an 1" of the way down (you have to place the cubes in a bucket of water ph to 5.7 for 5-10 mins) be using them

i have alway done it in soil but should work well in rock wall cubes

As ghetto and home made as it can get
This grow was thrown out at just a few weeks old for certain reason's

My current grow was started up there in another ghetto set up but this time with a cfl
but thanks to rollitup i no longer have access to these (y)

The loft is the whole flat, 2 bedroom but a huge flat for 2bed but on top, originally i wanted to put my tent up there but i didn't use my brain and realise it wasn't going to fit in the loft with the wooden A frame so i shoved it in one of the flat's rooms.

I know it may be able to be a good grow room but it has a really good air flow up there which with the weather especially recently will have my plant's in the cold.
Plus the ceiling started to crack only a tiny piece at the edge of my living rooms ceiling from when i was going up there so it's not only going to leave me with cold plant's, it's going to cave in the roof when i don't have home insurance :(

But yes in the future after this second grow is put into flower i will definitely use it to store a vegging station i'll just have to get a mini vegging tent and put a couple of 50watt heaters in there.


My first ever attempt at growing the one i threw away, i was feeding regularly and 3 weeks of using my hps for 18 hours they still didn't have any nodes? i don't know why up there was so slack any ideas?
 
By it didn't have any nodes i mean it had 2 leaves and the baby ones and the 2 leaves were tiny reaching about a cm big! this may be the same as this grow though, just needed nutrients but i got a better performance from a cfl in the tent with no nutes than the hps in the loft with no nutes
