Please Help! Ballast Blowing Fuses

i have a 40w lumatek digital ballast running my grow and when i woke up the lights were off..... i freaked out and checked everything and the fuse in the ballast is blown, 9a 250v
there was a spare in the compartment so i put it in and it blew right away!!

the outlet is fine and everything plugged into it is still working, i dont have anymore fuses, but i dont think the fuse is the problem?

has this happened to anyone else and how do i fix it?

A few will not blow unless more power than it was designed for passes through it. This is a safety feature, to prevent a surge into the equipment. It sounds like a short somewhere. A fuse can become brittle over time and fail, but to have a replacement blow that quick indicates faulty wiring.

sounds like a warranty fix, either your wiring is bad/wrong or the ballasts just took a chit.
take it back to where you bought it.

wiring is straight through a 15a timer into the wall, tried multiple outlets, and everything else on those outlets is fine.... talked to the guy at local hydro store, he said to bring it in, he will take a look and if he cant fix it, he will send it out and give me a loaner... he's the man

She'l just be put on a pallet w the other ballasts on warranty return... have em swap you out w a high-end c&c... then take the extra cash to pick something else up at the store that you might need... imvho

yeah, he gave me a 400 w magnetic to get me by free of charge, and said i had the older lumatek, they will probably just upgrade me and send a new one in about a week. im excited and i must say with this kind of customer service, i may never order anything online again, even with the price difference. this guy just saved my grow for the second time... take time to visit your local hydro stores

i dunno about yours but mine is irreplaceable
