plastic film on my reflector! help

I got a 400w HPS setup a month or so ago;
and i noticed it has this plastic film on the side that reflects the light. I was wondering if i should remove it or is it there for a reason? Id hate not to be getting maximun reflection, but id also hate messin up my reflector;
Hopefully someone has had this same issue

the plastic film is there to protect the reflector from scratching during shipping. you must remove the film before you use it.
