Now that intense, twice the price of a used vehicle for 1 light, sheesh. I wonder too, will anyone take the plunge to see how these produce?

The one you linked has 594w total consumption from the looks of it. The model I linked has 400 more watts for $5,000 haha. These are soo overpriced it's crazy!! I still want to see if they are worth their salt though ;)

Yeah, I guess the only real benefit is the life span of the unit. Ya figure a hydro store charges over 300 for a nice fixture, over 300 for a good ballast, and over 100 for a good bulb. I just wonder how well these things perform. I dont really understand PAR vs lumens and all that crap, but if they peform well, then I guess they would be worth the money. Somebody with money on this site should take the plunge for us and do a trial run. Who's it gonna be?

This plasma stuff does intruge me though, If the price goes down to a competetive level I would like to give it a go.

I am looking into purchasing one now, and yes the cost from the manufacturer is $4782.64 after tax and shipping. I so them on display at a growers expo recently in Las Vegas and man oh man, over 160 lumen per watt, with a PAR rating of about 65%!!

well the price is not too bad... 30k hours or 2500 cycles of 12/12 operation.. thats a little bit more than 6 years. think of how much you would spend on lamps in that time period. i mean shit, look at the PAR of the plasma vs hps

Make sure you keep us informed! I really want to see this and I'm about $4780 short, lol, so buying one myself isnt an option, but following your progress certainly is.

Oh the dro stores are soo over priced, except for soil and nutes.

Yeah that's true, if they really last as long as they say, they may actually be cheaper in the long run and you save some energy cost too. I know someone on this site has a couple stacks layin around that your just itchin to blow. I am going to try and find a grow report for these things, I'll link it if I do.

i remember reading about plasma lights around a year ago. At that time they had just made some leap in the technology that was suppose to be bringing it more into the mainstream. But at that price...ouch. Does look very promising though.
Heres a quick run down on how they work....
  1. Electrical energy is delivered to a puck that sits around a plasma light bulb. Inside the puck is a power amplifier circuit that is made of a feedback antenna, an input antenna and an amplifier. As electrical energy is delivered to the puck, the amplifier circuit makes an electrical field form around the bulb.Radio Frequency Signal
  2. The amplifier in the amplifier feedback circuit creates a radio frequency signal. This signal is guided into the electrical field around the bulb.Argon Ionized into Plasma
  3. The electrical field around the bulb has so much energy that the atoms of the contents of the bulb (argon and salt) become excited. The electrons of the atoms jump up an energy level, and the atoms of gas become ionized into plasma. As the electrons come down an energy level, the extra energy they held is given off as photons (light). The ionization of the gas is proved by the presence of light with a purple color.Salt Vaporized
  4. The plasma within the bulb is filled with electrons that constantly collide with the salt atoms inside of the bulb.   6. Plasma bulbs produce twice as much light as the best LEDs on the market. They are more efficient and use less energy to produce the same amount of lumens as LEDs and don't contain any electrodes. They are being hailed as the lights of the future and are being examined for use in street lamps and, if produced to emit household light levels, regular lighting fixtures for the average consumer. The only real down side to plasma bulbs is that their production is still very expensive. Due to cost, LEDs are still the best light that is readily available. As technology improves, however, as with any product, the cost of plasma bulbs will drop to a reasonable rate.

Really, you got one??? That would be sweet. If it works out well for you I will get one as well. Did you get the one bulb $1000 one, or the two bulb $2000 one? When will you start using it? When the next harvest goes in? Do you mean when the next group goes in?
