Its not true. Unless you have auto flowers your plants will remain in constant veg until you hit a 12/12 cycle. 16/8 you MIGHT risk it but I doubt it.

"Going into preflower" and "showing signs of preflower" are 2 completely separate things. Just because your plant is showing male or female traits doesnt mean its "going into preflower" which to me is the state a plant is in under 12/12 light BEFORE showing real signs of budding.

[h=3]Pre-flowering phase[/h] Also called the stretch, this takes one day to two weeks. Most plants last for 10–14 days after switching the light cycle to 12/12. Plant development increases dramatically, with the plant doubling or more in size. (See reproductive development below.) Production of more branches and nodes occurs in this stage, as the structure for flowering grows. The plant starts to show calyx where the branches meet the stem (nodes). Pre-flowering indicates the plant is ready to flower.

So your answer is NO your plant is not going to go into this stage in 18/6 light. Sorry vilify

it could be true but only if you have auto flowering seeds and if so the best way i think is to leave them under the light for 18hr on and six off it should start to flower after 3 weeks but dont change the lights even when it strarts to flower just leave it under 18/6hrs for 90-95 days but thats only with auto flowering seeds.
