Plants drooping badly after switching to 12/12

Hello. This is my first time growing. I completed the veg stage on day 32 without any problems then left the plants in dark for 36 hours. They were still looking healthy at the end of 36 hours but right after I change the lamp to HPS and start 12/12, the plants started drooping pretty badly as seen in the pic. I don't think it's an overwatering issue as it just happened so quickly. I still watered one of the blue dreams (50-100ml) to see if there will be any change but no change so far. (it's been 3 hours since I put the lights on)

I have 4 plants (2 blue dreams + white widow and og kush) and they are also experiencing the same problem. Blue dreams more drooping because of their length I assume. Is this a normal transition?

I have 40-50 percent humidity levels and about 30-32 celcius (85-90fahrenheit) degrees when the lights are on. The distance of light to plants are about half a meter.

Thank you!

Why in the world would you put them into darkness for 36 hours between the switch from veg to flower? That’s just craziness! Another thing is your heat is off the charts. Your temps should be 75-80 at most with lights on. Also unless you’re super restricted on space I’d be vegging for a minimum of 60 days if growing from seed.

They...that... you are torturing them.

Not enough light, then to much. They are growing away from the light now because it is a very dramatic change.

Even going from a 17/18 hour veg schedule, then flipping to 11/12 hour flower schedule, is very stressful compared to a more natural flowering schedule. You've gone a step farther than that I'd say.

Not a normal transition, no, but I'm hoping they pull out of it for you.

I agree. Tho I'm still a rookie myself. I vegged for 7 weeks with LST and it is doing pretty good. (Even on space)

Those plants want more light than you are giving them I'm guessing

The look like they need more light. Since you gave them 36 hrs of darkness at the end of veg.. try keeping the light on 24hrs for a couple days.. just up the watering due to evaporation in the heat.. speaking of.. if that is foil like I think it is... you're baking the poor thing under that light.

Thank you all for your replies. I read 36 to 48 hours somewhere and people were supporting the idea. I didn't know it was that bad..

I admit that I can't provide the perfect conditions for my plants as I live in a hot climate area and my space is small. I can only run one carbon filter and a fan due to noise. I also couldn't invest much as growing stuff prices are freaking high in my country. I could've grown 2 instead of 4, that's a mistake clearly. As for the veggie period, I really have no time and space.

After I watered one of the blue dreams last night, the plant just perked up and I watered them all. It looks good for now and I hope it goes normal once the lights are on.

I've heard of growers giving their plants up to 72 hours of darkness... but that's only right before harvest.

I’ve heard of leaving them in dark for a day before harvest to fatten the buds up (dunno if it’s actually a thing) but, never when you flip.

This right here. I leave my plants in total darkness for 2-3 days before chop. I’ve never heard of anyone putting them through a dark period going from veg to flower. It’s very unnatural and unreasonably stressful for them at a stage you want the least amount of stress possible.

Here are the latest pictures. Second photo (blue dream) angle is not that good, it actually looks better than this.

I read that it speeds up the switch from veg to flower but that was clearly a mistake.

Yes, I understand it better now. Thank you! Sadly, I can't afford led lights. I don't know if it will help but I raised the light to 75 cm.

They actually look dry to me and 1000w hps can dry the medium faster than less powerful lights. I'd give them a good feeding / watering to runoff then let them dry for a few days until the containers are nice and light. Raise the pots with something so the pots don't sit in runoff and remove the runoff. Maybe try the lights around 2 ft (60 cm?). Temps are high for hps for sure. Is the ballast dimmable? If yes, bring the strength down to 75% or so for now.

They look way better, I always just flip to 12/12 when I want to go into flower. But you’ve heard that,, I have heard about leaving them in a 24 hour dark stage if they don’t flower in a decent time. This was on auto flowers though? I’m not positive, just saying I have heard the same thing before. Just in a different circumstance

I'm running a 400-watt HPS (philips son-t pia plus e40) in a small tent. The light distance is around 2 ft now as you suggested. Ballast is not dimmable.
I have to take the pots out of tent to water them properly - it's really tight in there. I will slowly water to runoff and once I see water on the tray, I will remove it. I know it sounds easy but since I always had overwatering problems in the beginning of veg, I hope I don't mess this up.

Im hoping you don’t take that as me pointing the light thing out, I am just saying I have heard that as well. 20 times for sure and even done it on Auto plant that I had because I didn’t think it was going into flower. Just sayin, I have heard it several times so I don’t think you ducked up, I just think I’m certain situations people use this

Sorry, I missed your comment. Yes, I totally understand you :) My plants are looking much better now. I've watered to runoff and I don't see anything wrong now except some leaves curling but I think it will get better soon.
