Plants are tall but not many fan leaves....please help

My plants have been vegging for about a month now on an 18/6 light cycle with 400W MH bulb. Soil is Fox Farm ocean forest/25% Alaskan Humus mix. I am using Flora Nova Grow Nutrient. If someone could please provide some insight as to why they are not bushy I would greatly appreciate it.

Your lights are waaay too far away and have caused your plants to stretch. I'm using a 600w HPS and I keep the light about a 1/2 foot - 1 foot away from my plants.

Attach some sort of support sticks to your plants' stem so they don't topple over and move the light closer.

The lights should be as close as possible without harming the plants from heat. Just get them as close as you can without heat stressing them.

they're at the right place now. But you do have some serious stretching problems.
I would either start using the nute more, or
start LST'ing and make the plants go lower and then you lower the lights
You'd get more bud this way instead of leaving them how they are.
but be careful LST'ing cause your plant stems look very thin.

They would stretch more...

I would correct the height of your light issue and let them veg a bit more. The stems are so damn thin they look about ready to topple over.

How much longer should I veg them for? Should I cut them shorter and start to tie down the sides? Will this affect the overall height of my plants?.....sorry just trying to get as much info as I can.

yea i would suggest getting them bitches sideways either by LST or by building a scrog screen... then throwin em straight into flower, and dropping that light to 12" or so...

edited to add:
you can veg as long as you like, but with the light footprint on a 400w you dont need to veg any longer, you just need to get them grouped in close and sideways to promote more dense growth...

How long have they been vegging for anywayz?

I would let them recover and veg for another month if it was me but it's up to you really. I wouldn't bother topping or LST at this stage, just let them veg a bit more and then flower. Do some more research and try all those techniques out on your next grow.

mark, i would like to know how you deal with this problem. you seem very misdirected. Before your next grow, you might want to go out the way to do a little more research. BUY A BOOK AND READ IT! you are suffering due to unpreparedness. i was the one who broke down your watering problem for you. look i grow with LED lights and MY plants look better than yours. I SAY CHANGE YOUR BULB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUY A HORTILUX BLUE

Looks like the light was too far away and they stretched, or they could just be bunk seeds bro. I'd try LSTing them and moving the light closer, as was mentioned before.

Be sure to let us know how everything works out!
