Plant sex?

2 strawberry coughs. 6 weeks old. been in flowering for a couple days. 1 plant has had pistils coming out of it since week 4, the other is showing absolutely no sign of sex. Not showing male or female qualities. Supposed to be 2 feminized seeds.

- Could the one have changed sex from female to male?

- Or sometimes can it take longer for some plants to show sign of sex?

The one showing no sign of sex is a lot bigger, taller and more developed than the other one that is showing sex. This could possible be just pheno's but idk.

Any feedback or info helps!

I grew some Oaxaca bag seed into 13 females many years ago. Out of those 13, one was at least 4 weeks ahead of the rest in bloom. She showed her hairs before all of the rest. It happens. especially when they have been crossbred, dominant genes aren't always uniform in the offspring. There could be a ruderalis gene kicking the one into high gear and the other doesn't have that gene. I could show you how to sex them as early as their second branches but expl;aining it on here is too hard because I don't know the correct plant terminology. In Frank and Rosenthal's first book from the 70's, The Marijuana Grower's Guide, there is a great tutorial.

damn dude google the shit half the shit i learned about growing Mary Jane was from Google like iam serious look in the whole Grow Room you see that like every thread stared is about how to identify if a plant is male or female




sorry for being a dick has when iam hevaly medicated i sometimes get serious and turn into a dick at times i dont know why but i just do and iam not trying to piss off anyone like i said i just saw like 8 threads about this subject that could easily be answered on google

You'll know if one of your plants is male, very fast. It's not going to shoot pollen everywhere 1 day after you couldn't determine whether they were balls or not. If you can't tell today, look tomorrow.

In the future, you should just use feminized seeds and/or learn to clone and keep a mother.

The seeeds were labeled feminized. One is just not showing it.

Plants from feminized seeds will turn hermie under stress. After all, feminized seeds come from hermies.http://www.cannabisculture.com/node/394 I would prefer to buy regular seeds and separate the males out than to have a whole plant be ruined by a few male pods fertilizing it all because of a power failure you never even knew about or, outside, a heat spell or flooding. Then I would clone from one of the females from the regular seed. The hermie traits from feminized seed will carry through the clones.

How do you tell if a fem turned hermie? will its show signs of this?
