Plant leaf curling up.

Hi Guys

Im new to the site and i have a problem that i hope some1 can help me with. Iv done a few grows before and havnt come across this before.

Im currently doing VK (fems) from Barneys. I use a wilma system, With pebbles.
Plant is 22 days old and has just started to do this within the last few hours.

My temp is a steady 75. My Humidity is around 58-60%, My 200w CFL bulb is 12" away and has always been at around 12" away since day1.
E.C is 0.8 and PH is always around 5.8-6.0 ( never goes above 6.0)

The 2nd pic is of one of the other plants thats exactly the same age and has also been brought up the same way. The plant that is curling up its leaf has seemed to struggle from day1, Its not the same size of structure of the others even tho its been treated the same as them all. Maybe just a bad seed ?

Any help is much aprreciated

Hi Dirtfree

It does seem to be healthy (apart from the curling leafs), It started slowly compared to the others, And like mentioned above its not the size or structure of the others as of yet, Its just them 2 leafs either side of each other started to curl up a few hours ago, And its never happened before so i thought id ask on here :)

Id also like to add that i brought a pack of 5 from Barneys, Only 3 germed, Once again this has never happened in any of the pips iv used before, Iv always had 100% germ rates.

Leaf curl up is normaly from heat stress.....which i dont think is your problem
Leaf curl down is normaly from overfeeding or under watering.....
Leaf twist or curl is from your ph being off.....just some some things for you to keep in mind

Thanks for that, I still have alot to learn,
Do you think its just the genetics of the plant ? I forgot to mention that the ladies are fed every hr for an hr til the lights go off. ( i dont think the problem is this tho,)

It could be. I have gotten a couple seeds that grew funny leaves at first and then will either get worse or they will fix themselves. I dont see anything to worry about with your plants. Im glad i can help. I still have alot to learn myself!

Iv learnt alot from my friend and also from the book called "the growers bible" by George Cervantes. Its a good book to read and id recommend it to any1. But there is just some things that need to be learnt thru being around the plants. I did look up my problem in the book but it said it could be heat stress, salt build up or wind stress and i just cant see it being any of them 3 lol. I did place a bottle under the pot and gathered a sample to test, But it came back near enough the same PH and EC as the res. So it isnt salt build up.

What makes me think its a genetic problem is the fact it seems to have struggle from day 1 and 2 of the seeds never even broke open :(

Just because you get the same reading doesnt mean there may not be a build up there. A good flush never hurts in hydro. If you think there is a problem flush it out!

That is true, Tbh i did flush 5 litres of PH'd water thru that 1 plant, But i highly doubt its salt build up, My water out of the tap has a EC of 0.4 ( before any nutes are added) Its only at 0.8 now and i only just started slight nutes 5 days ago.

Il just monitor it over the next few days, Hopefully it will sort itself out, Or il have to keep 1 as a mother and take some clones, Then start over again with the clones :( No point doing just 2 in a 4 pot system.

Provide some pics. Are the leaves turning yellow? How often are you watering? What kind of nutrients are you giving them and how often? And lastly, how old is the plant? Please provide some more information so I can help you.

hey sickshot, sounds like i might have a similar problem. does my pic look like your plant? someone on RIU diagnosed it as 'the pH twist' and so i lowered my pH accordingly. i had been using tap water and so this makes sense. i know you're hydro (don't really know anything about that) but if your leaves look similar then pH might be something to be looking at.

good luck mate :peace:
