Plant Height Problem

Id disagree of course mh will be tops then hps for veg then floroscent shop lights then cfls as the cfls I always see dont have enough light or coverage for plants. I have seen 1 cfl grow that was decent for what it was but couple shop lights can veg small plants in confined areas but cfl or these wont do a flower stage.CFL is a waste of time and money unless a quarter from a 4 month grow is fine for you lol

Cfl's are good for beginers. They do work very well for veg if applied correctly.

Ideally you would want 50 watts per square foot of floor space for a bloom room. In your case, 400 watts.

And not to knock the CFL...but it is no HID and you will not see the same bud/plant growth rates using them as you will if you used HID. I also think that the "50 watts per sq ft" figure is based on HID lighting.

Either way, by my calcs you only have 1/6th of the light currently that you'd need to bloom successfully* in that space. *by successful I mean nice chunky nugs covering the entire plant vs sticks with popcorn nugs on 'em
A 400 hps can offer up to 60K lumens...and that is what you need for this space.

$150-200 on Ebay *now* will put all of this into the realm I beleive you expect it to be and (for the cost of a 1/2 z on the street) will be a big enough light to keep you in smoke continuously.

Question: Why not use the 400hps for veg *and* flowering? You'll see a bit more stretch than you would with a cool white or MH, but you'll get LOTS more growth with it than you will those CFL's.

60K vs. 10 K is a no brainer here.

CFL's are cheap and easy to get but that is where their benefits for growing pot end. Those lights are holding many of you back from growing a garden that will keep you in weed for as long as you want.
