planning on drying in a tent... I have a couple questions

So I'm planning on drying in a tent outdoors in a month or so when the ladies are ready to chop (2 Afghan ladies that are currently about 32" and in the ground). This will be my first harvest ever. I have a very good spot and a very good 3 person tent that I know is water proof (I backpack in it all the time).

I do have a couple questions though.

1. Should I leave the window screens in the tent open or closed? Am I risking some sort of bug/mite infestation if I leave the screens open? I will of course leave the windows themselves open, but the tent also has screens that can be open or closed. In my camping experience, the screens themselves seem to hold in significant heat and humidity (they are very fine mesh). If I open the screens bugs will be able to come in, but so will a lot more fresh, cooler air. That is why I ask.

2. Would it be a good idea to bring a battery powered fan into the tent and let it blow air around also? I have read that a fan is a good thing, but I have also read that it can increase the chance of mold by blowing spores onto the bud. Outdoors, I figure, this risk may be increased even more.

What do you think? If I just hang the buds in the tent with the screens closed and no fan, could they easily mold? I do plan on visiting them once a day, taking them outside, airing them out and stuff. I'll do that at the very least. But if experienced growers think I need a fan or open window screens, I'll do that too. I suppose I could try to open the screens in the morning and close them at night... so that's another option.

Thanks for any advice you have. :peace:

I'd think it would work...just use the screen...and just move the stuff around daily I don't see any down side...plus next time you go camping the smell might still be there....or even that elusive top that you dropped....

Its doable .. sure why not .. good luck.. have some fans moving the air around.. not blowing on the buds

Fans PREVENT mold from growing... if no mold is present then there aren't any spores to blow around.... so yes... a fan moving the air around is good to prevent mold from growing.

Nice set up indeed. I'm more of a backwoods camper, but sometimes I go out to the Outer Banks (of North Carolina) and do "spot camping". Where did you get that big, red outer tent? That thing is fantastic.

I'm living at my parents they might let me grow. they've let me do it before. there is no way I could dry weed or even smoke in the house, so I would have to use their camping tent to dry the weed outside. and btw your pics didn't work for me I would love to see what you did. peace and pot.
