I built a new light for growing peppers! 60w Vero 18 v2 @ 900mA. Intel heatsinks, $7 chinese drivers.View attachment 3493696 View attachment 3493694 View attachment 3493695 View attachment 3493697 View attachment 3493698 View attachment 3493699
Hey biz! I love your pepper light, :clap:and as it turns out I'll be building one just about the same design with different cobs for my eBay led grow box.

How did you attach your LED chips to the heatsink? I don't see screws or tape on the holders.

if you really want a hack, try some mini aluminum pans.
like these 3" Foil Tart Pan Deep 7/8"

mmm I like tarts, specially when she squeals
I used a normal sized pie pan with the middle cut out as a short reflector on my 240w CXB high bays. Much better than the 60 degree aluminum reflectors they had on them at first. That reflector made a good heat lamp for keeping food hot but not that great for plants that you don't want bleached and burnt.

It is series wiring in cxa/b...so I guess the other dies will take more amp and would be less efficient

It is really more yellorange when dimmed down...!...looks more like hps light...when dim up like mh light!
Same home...!
20w 10% is supposed to be the lowest setting...but I am sure spectrum change too...more than we guess

My cell phone was all over the place attempting to focus and adapt to the brightness of the diy cod light. It has never done that before with taking pictures under hps... :)

I used Thermal Adhesive like @frica said. Arctic Aluminia or something like that. I was going for cheap and easy, I used tapped hole and screws for my CXBs :)

Yes I feel sorry for you...but it give me more reason to go with 90º reflector with my next builds!
I never thought about this...but it can happen...shits happens...!
But I am not sure about 90º????...I will end with a cob over each sq/ft and I want to know wich one cover only a sq/ft? 40º? I have to find out!

It's cool just got these guys in the mail. Going to do some spectrum mixing experimentation. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1452576963.440928.jpg

Nice, I just ordered two of the BB 3500K's myself....Also paired with 3k and 4k Vero's and Cree CXA3070's....

I am actually so surprised about those 3070's with fried diodes...I am pushing 18 months of constant usage on mine and they just won't f'in quit....

Nice selection of chips! :joint:

It was definitely my fault not the chips lol. I actually grabbed Thea cxbs in 3k 93? Cri to see if the spectrum grew as good as it looks. And the veros are 4K v2s. So:

My initial setup should 2x 3k CXA3070 AB, 2x CXB3500K and 2x 4k Vero V2's as well....
all over a 4x2....I also have some 2700K and some random Vero 10's..... for side lighting.....should go to up around 800 PPFD overall :)

I have a Vero 4k running right now in TEST mode......on a 460 gram copper plug w/active cooling and I am using Graftech TIM and the Vero's are everything StarDustSailor promised and more....it is running only 25 watts or so from a Meanwell LCP 35-700 and the C/W is like .1 degree celsius rise...These things are ICE, highly recommended :peace:
