I decided to write everything down this year that way, less fuckups. If you follow this blog, you will learn how to grow okay without having to read a whole stack of Hts or a Jorge Cervantes book. I have read both and am happy to share my skills with you. i've been growing for about 10 years now, but because I always fuck something up (it's usually the timing of it, and I was trying to grow indoors for a while and Cali here can get hot, so) I never really made much cash.. this year we'll see

Rule #1 Never tell anyone that you are growing marijuana, ESPECIALLY IF THEY KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE. The exception to this is if you know them well and they are your "grow buddy"... this means that you share expenses and you trust each other. Another exception is that you might want to tell your next door neighbor IF IT IS A MEDICAL GROW. most people in medical states don't know it's legal to grow your own pot and you may find yourself answering the door to Federales (cops) one day if you don't pay your neighbor the courtesy of telling him that you are a medical patient and you grow your own medicine. then again, this could be ill advised if your neighbor parities a lot or knows someone who might come over and take your plants. it's up to you to make the call. Especially too, make sure your partner understands the next rule:

Rule #2 Don't count your chickens before their hatched (everything can go to shit in a day, plants get stolen, they die, they refuse to grow, etc. so even if you order 100 seeds or have an equal amount of clones, don't count on buying a Caldillac or a Harley until the money's in the mattress. Also lay down the law that once the plants start at your house, they don't move. You don't want your buddy getting all selfish one day and coming over thinking he's gonna walk out your front door with your plants. NO NO NO! Even if the plants are dying and he thinks he can save them (he can't) don't let him do this. Remember you did all the hard work, he probably just kicked down a little cash. Not only will he get your plants, he will attract unwanted attention from the neighbors. I had a partner try to bust my door down because he got it in his head that I was "hiding" plants from him.

Rule #3 Don't overwater. If you water your plants at least twice a week, you will be good. three times in late flowering, unless it is real hot or you are indoors.

Rule #4 Don't overfeed, especially in early veg. Feed your plants only when they reach about 3/4 of a foot tall, and start out slow. Remember, you can kill your plants this way very easily.

Rule #5: No nutes the last 2 weeks before harvest. When the trichomes look clear and the plant looks like an advertisement for attitude, start flushing. This means putting massive (5x the volume of the pot) amounts of water in each plant on a tri weekly basis. Do this every day the last week. Remember you've been putting stuff you wouldn't drink yourself in these buckets so you have to get it out now or your pot will taste like crap and no one will buy it.

Rule #6, last but not least, make sure that anyone you live with is cool with this and is a cool person to boot. This includes your grow buddy. People are funky creatures. They have a hard time keeping their mouths shut and sometimes they go crazy or get addicted to drugs. On the other hand, two heads are better than one and I have learned a great deal growing with other people. So weigh your options carefully. Especially if you live down south somewhere (read: red staters are not cool with marijuana and it tends to get you into more trouble in Alabama than, in say, Oregon)

These are some clones I took from last year's grow. L-R random Sativa (shitty plant'll probably go into the Hash machine..., DNA genetics Skunk x og Kush, Another Random Sativa that's doing a little better, a squat Chem Dawg, and a SSSDH.

This is a clone from a good seed I got last year from DnA. I put it out about a month ago and it's coming along nicely, a deep green going to purple as the nights get cold... nutes are advanced Nutrients Iguana Grow organic with a little Big bud and some Bat Guano. I just feed it about every week cause I don't want too much junk in the grow messing it up.

These were it up until last week when the clones grew out a little and I got some bomb seeds from Attitude. In case you are wondering where to get seeds, you can't go wrong with attitude. Unlike a Canadian seed bank they won't overcharge ya and your shit always gets there within a week. So know I have what I estimate are 20 females, about 10 various clones and 20 seeds, half of which will probably turn out male, but i got three free feminized from the seed bank so that might put me over the 50% rate. Total seeds ordered were 23 and the total intact now are 18...some die off real quick, be careful with seeds and real small plants cause you can tear one apart if you're not careful...

Thiz iz my light indoors, 1000w MH. I have an Hps too but I veg indoors and outdoors during the day of course and I don't fuck around with flowering inside anymore. You can get much bigger plants outside and you don't have to worry about your room getting to hot. And it will with a HPS in the daytime unless you have some kind of AC and then we're talking an investment that I'm not willin to make. Two or three big crops a year is enough for me and I'm planning to grow maybe 30-50 plants this spring/ summer but we'll see. The seeds you see under the light are Blueberry mostly from BC bud depot, only i ordered them from attitude cause I heard that if you order from BC it takes like three weeks. And like I said I've never had to wait any longer than a week with attitude. I also got a couple of Purple Kush seeds and a fem bubble gum and a fem grapefruit. The seeds are starting to look like clones already and I just transplanted many out of the cups into small planters. The white thing you see in front is a big old fan and that's good enough for veg but don't try flowering indoors without a real good ventilation system and esp. not in the summer w/o ac...

Good genetics early will ensure that you are a happy man come harvest time. First of all, you can't go wrong with a good seed. A buddy can give you a clone, and say it's the bomb but even if you got it from a dispensary they have ulterior motives and I doubt they would give you a clone off a fat ass humbolt tree.
So what do I mean by good genetics' I mean the kind of bud that wins the cannabis cup. It caN BE YOURS MY FRIEND IF YOU DO THINGS RIGHT.

what we are basically looking for with seeds are GOOD MOTHER PLANTS. IN EVERY PACK OF 10 SEEDS, IF THEY AREN'T FEM, (m/F), THERE WILL BE MAYBE 2 PLANTS IN THERE WORTH MOTHERING. THESE ARE THE KIND OF PLANTS THAT GO FROM SEED TO 3' IN MAYBE TWO MONTHS. OR THREE.. AS LONG AS THEY GET BIG AND YOUVE GOT THE TIME TO WATCH EM GROW (OF COURSE, THE QUICKER, THE BETTER.

yOU WILL WANT TO TAKE CUTTINGS, OR BABY PLANTS, FROM THESE "MOTHERS". WHY? BECAUSE CUTTINGS, ALSO CALLED CLONES, WILL TAKE ON THE CHARACTERISITICS OF THE MOTHER PLANTS. THAT IS WHY YOU ARE LABELING EVERYTHING LIKE A OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE CHEMIST. ONCE YOU KNOW WHAT BIG PLANTS ARE WHERE, THAT IS THE TIME TO GO TO BUSINESS. START TAKING CUTTINGS SO YOU WILL HAVE MULITIPLE GOOD, BIG PLANTS OUT IN THE YARD OR IN YOUR GROWROOM COME HARVEST TIME. YOU KNOW THOSE HIGH TIMES PICTURES YOU DROOL OVER OF GROWROOMS FULL OF GREAT LOOKING PLANTS THAT ALL LOOK THE SAME? THIS IS HOW THEY DID THAT.

I just spent all last week germinating and rooting these. FIRST I WILL TELL YOU MY SECRET TO GROWING FROM SEED SO LISTEN UP!

FIRST, BE VERY CAREFUL WITH SEEDS AND SEEDLINGS. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE, SMALL, AND DELICATE. IF A PACKAGE LOOKS TOUGH TO OPEN, DO IT GENTLY AND FIGURE IT OUT. DON'T JUST RIP IT OPEN.

SOAK ALL SEEDS IN APPROPRIATELY MARKED SMALL JARS. I LIKE TO TAPE THE BREEDER PACK TO THE SIDE OF THE JAR.
1) dO THE paper towel thing (SEE SEED BANK SITE.. keep the paper towel moist but not soggy. All the seeds you will get will come within 5 days. Be sure to keep track of which strain is which, at aNY FUTURE JUNCTION IF YOU FAIL TO LABEL THESE YOU WILL GET CONFUSED. tHIS MEANS WHEN YOU PUT THEM IN CUPS, PLANTERS, PAILS, ETC.

2( wHEN YOU SEE SOMETHING THAT LOOKS LIKE A SEED WITH A 1/2-1" WHITE TAIL COMING OUT OF IT, TAKE SOME TWEEZERS OR YOUR FINGERS (BE CAREFUL). iNSERT THE SEED WITH THE SEED ON TOP IN A ROCKWOOL PLANT PLUG. THESE ARE CYLINDRICAL IN SHAPE, ARE ABOUT 2" HIGH, AND MADE OF ROCKWOOL BUT ARE NOT ROCKWOOL CUBES. THEY ARE DIFFERENT. THEY ARE SLIT UP THE SIDE SO BURY THE SEEDLING IN THERE NICE AND SNUG.

3) PUT IT RIGHT UNDER A BATHROOM LIGHT (100W COOL FLOURESCENT) AND SPRAY IT WITH WATER GENEROUSLY

3) PUT IT RIGHT UNDER A BATHROOM LIGHT (100W COOL FLOURESCENT) AND SPRAY IT WITH WATER GENEROUSLY TWICE A DAY. Meanwhile keep checking the paper towels for popped seeds just like before. They will all pop if they're gonna within five days. That is how I lose most seeds, they just don't pop. You really get what you pay for with seeds so don't spend any less that $50 on a pack of mixed seeds. Obviously fems cost you a little more and tend to be of higher qualitiy because usually only the better seed growers make fem seeds.

4) IN ABOUT 24 HOURS THE SEEDLING WILL BE SHOOTITNG STRAIGHT UP LIKE AN ARROW OUT OF THE ROCKWOOL TUBE. THE SEED SHELL MAY HAVE COME OFF BY NOW, EXPOSING THE BABY LEAVES. THIS IS NORMAL. IF THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED, IT WILL. DON'T WORRY. when the seedling looks like this, TAKE IT OUT VERY GENTLY FROM THE ROCKWOOL TUBE. SOME OF THE ROOT MAY HAVE GROWN INTO THE SIDE OF THE TUBE. JUST GENTLY TEAR THE ROCKWOOL AROUND THE ROOT AND TRY TO FIND THE TIP OF THE ROOT. WHEN YOU THINK YOU CAN get the tip out WITHOUT BREAKING IT OFF, DO SO. TRY NOT TO BREAK THE ROOT IN HALF. YOU WILL RUIN YOUR SEED.

5) IF YOU STILL KNOW WHAT KIND OF SEED IT IS (SEE I TOLD YOU!), TAKE A LARGE COFFEE CUP AND FILL IT WITH GOOD SOIL, ABOUT 1/4 PERLITE. SOAK THE SOIL WITH WATER AND POKE A HOLE IN THE BOTTOM WITH WHATEVER PEN YOU HAVE. THEN WRITE THE STRAIN ON THE SIDE OF THE CUP AND BURY THE SEEDLING ABOUT 1/2 WAY DOWN INTO THE DIRT. (THE TOP INCH OR SO OF THE SEEDLING SHOULD BE STICKING OUT.)

6) IF IT IS SPRINGTIME WEATHER WHERE YOU LIVE and NOT TOO HOT (around 70 degrees max, YOU MAY PUT THE SEEDS OUT ALL DAY. JUST TO BE SAFE THOUGH, YOU SHOULD HARDEN OFF THE SEEDS BY GETTING THEM USED TO SUNLIGHT. ONLY 3 HRS AT A TIME FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF DAYS. THEN GO FOR IT. MAKE SURE THEY GET AT LEAST 18 HRS OF LIGHT A DAY, EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO USE A 100W CFL TUBE BULB OR THE BATHROOM AGAIN AT NIGHT.

7) YOU NOW HAVE SEVERAL BABY MARIJUANA PLANTS. spray them with water using fine spray mister twice a day at least, and again if they are going out in the sun or have been there for over 3 hrs. THESE ARE NOT TOUGH PLANTS YET AND WILL DIE IF YOU DON'T TAKE REAL GOOD CARE OF THEM! CONGRATULATIONS! STAY TUNED TO THIS BLOG TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS... OR GO TO THE PART ABOUT CLONES. THEY ARE NOTHING BUT GROWN UP SEEDLINGS THAT ARE CALLED CLONES BECAUSE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BEHAVE LIKE A MOTHER PLANT. YOU SEE WHY I TOOK CUTTINGS FROM THAT TALL, BIG GREEN SKUNK PLANT IN THE MIDDLE? BECAUSE I WANTED A BUNCH OF PLANTS LIKE THAT.

BUT not too many. one strain makes for a boring garden, unless you are strictly in it for the cash. Anyway I spent 130 on my dad's credit card and bought 25 seeds. 20 of 'em germinated. I ripped one seedling in half (dang that coulda been the one lol!) so now I have about 2-3 purple kush if I'm lucky,

The expensive ones were like $70,00, Blueberry M/F from BC Bud Depot. I heard on another blog that if you order direct from them yeah you get your seeds but they take like 2 weeks later. Attitude ships in a week always. So I wanted Purps but Attutude was out of stock. So I just got blueberry, it's more of a straight indica anyway (80/20). Next were Purple Kush, from Reeferman seeds. These were cheap and I got what I paid for, only half of em popped. But the bright side is that you get 3 fem seeds free with your order and all of those popped. Grapefruit, Bubblegum, and a Purple Moroccan strain that sounds pretty exotic but you never know. Anyway I am now stocked up for genetics. I know it's early to plant but if these turn out good (not if but when) ha ha, but if these turn out good I want plenlty of time for summer clones. my springtime clones look a little slow getting there so I might have to keep em in veg and carry em out to flower in summer. That's been the plan all along. Be sure you keep your small plants under at least 16-18 hrs of light/ day or they will start to flower and then you'll be fucked if you try to clone 'em. You want to start the plant early, wait until it gets about as big as possible before summer (mid April), then start cloning those fuckers like a madman. most people clone for sex because they don't want to put there big mothers out and have them start to flower early in spring. This means if you see a plant you like, take a few clones and put THOSE outside and see what sex they go. Then you'll know if those moms were really moms or dads. If you keep track well of where you get your clones from you should only have to take 2-3 from each plant to do this.

next time i'll show you how big my 30 odd plants are... the seeds are getting big as clones like I said.. Well, see ya in a bit!

But all of my clones are doing okay...I od'ed them on heavy Iguana Juice grow (nitrogen) last friday and by monday they were all looking pretty sick. (the clones dummy, not the seedlings). They were all wilting real bad and turning yellow. So what I did was gently extract the plants from the pots, laid them out on the patio, and sprayed them off with water down to the white roots. Then I took the cubes and I put them in some nice wet dirt and put them under the MH light inside with the fan on full blast. guess what? they all lived! Even the really messed up little spindly ones. The cannabis plant is a survivor, man.

so mojo, what gives, you already said you got some big plants outside?

That's cause they took me about 3-4 months to grow inside AND OUTSIDE and then I put them out when the month was right:

1) If you're plants are big enough, and are long flowering Sativas, I would recommend putting them out at the end of January, latest first week of February, for a spring harvest. This is because the days will be getting longer, from 11-13-14 hours by the time June rolls around. What you want is 12 hours of sunlight and 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness, so if your neighbor likes to have raves or shines a big old 1000w mh light out his window like I do, get your plants outta the way of all that ngihtitime light.

2) If youre plants are strong like mine you will get a harvest in mid-April at the latest. i will show you when my plants are done what to look for. If they are Indica dominant, then

3) put them out mid februaary if they are a foot tall. if they aren't that big yet, the latest you have to get them big is March. If they aren't a foot tall by March (and you will probably thank yourself for this later), keep them under the 18 hour schedule until they are like 3' tall. then turn off the HID light inside (when ever you have about 50 tall plants, which by this time you will be hopping up and down for joy about)... And just put the plants outside during the day, take them in at night. and put them in a brightly lit room. This will keep them from going into flowering during late spring, which is NOT what you want to happen. If you don't want to be carrying 40-50 plants in and out of your house, consider putting your big plants next to a big window and keeping the light close to it. I hope you have a big backyard though or a big window bc you wont be able to flower anything back there during sping unless you find a bush and hide your plants behind it. About 40 feet away.

Remember, I started my clones back in January and theyre barely rooted. this could be due to the fact that I have what I just found to be only a 40 watt cfl in the bathroom, so I put two 100 watt coil bulbs in there with it and Lo! the clones started to root a lot faster. But all that bullshit you hear in ht about the 90 day grow is mostly that. You will not get a very big plant if you just veg for a month. So if you want big plants, either take your clones early , take them from good plants, or both.. you can take a clone in April and put it out in June, (no shit, what do you think I bought the seeds for?), but make sure it is getting at least 15 hrs day of daylight or it will start to flower, resulting in a stuck plant

This is a pic of my bathroom where I do my clones. i noticed this year (too late of

course) that my clones weren't rooting fast enough under the bathroom flourescent light (cfl) so i checked with pops and he said that the light wasn't 100 w like i thought but only 40 so I had to put a couple of 100w cfl bulbs in there and shine em right on the clones and OH YEAH then they started rootin'...

to take a clone get a bunch of rockwool cubes the smallest kind, and soak them in water and a clone rooting fertilzer overnight. use about half a teaspoon of this stuff (it comes in a big tall liter bottle that is black)...take a pair of clean scissors and go to a big plant that you like (like my big skunk plant). take a cutting that has leaves going in both directions (it looks like a little plant. I'll show you a pic later, or bug me if you don't get this). Make sure that the stalk you cut off is at least 4 inches long or so and thick enough to stand on it's own. trim any leaves off and make sure the cut is a clean one, just a clean snip.

take the clone(s) and put them in a glass of water. make sure you only do one plant at a time that way you'll remmeber what kind of clone it was...

take em inside to your clone room and get a rockwool cube. squeeze it out and write the name of the plant (CD for chem dawg, sk for skunk, etc) on the side of the cube. Then get a carpenters nail and poke a hole through the cube where the small hole is at the top. be careful. you want the hole to be wide enough so that you don't have to force the clone in there but you don't wanna poke through the other side. Dip a dry clone in rooting gel, dip a wet clone in rooting powder (cheap but it works!). put the clones under the dome, not too crowded together. spray them every day with a clean sprayer you bought at the store yesterday (I killed a bunch of clones because one of my sprayers still had some pesticide in it). use a solution of a capful of the clone solution to a full bottle. spray your babies every day at least maybe two times. in three weeks at the most you should have a bunch of baby marijuana plants.

Now this is the kicker. Every clone you take will take on the characteristics of the plant you got it from. so make sure the plant is female or you could be in for a shocker! Also if you dream of having a big grow op like you see in the magazines where every plant looks the same this is how they got that way (you didn't think these guys got 100s of seeds from attitude and just planted them did ya? lol!

One of these days I'm gonna get a clone machine like this one, only with more grow sites in it:but I can't afford one now. so i'll guess i'll just hafta sell some weed. capital investment yo!

I put the big plants out back at the end of Jan. One of em got root rot so I replanted that sucker. the bucket it was in didn't have any holes at the bottom (duh) so the water and shit was all staying down there in the sun all day and getting cruddy. This is why I don't unerstand how you can just dig a hole and plant something. Where does all the water go? I would do this only my yard isn't that deep when it comes to dirt and I'd have to rent a rototiller. So here goes:

These are all my smaller clones and seedlings. The seeds I planted about 3 weeks ago and they aren't getting very big because I lagged on transplanting them outta the coffee cups. I just did that yesterday. Put 'em all in 1/2 gallon square planters (50cents each from hydro store) or fast food 32 ozers (free if you go up to the cash register with your coke at the top of a big old stack and just put it behind the cash register so the guy can't see). The seedlings responeded well almost immediately so remember not to crowd your roots even if it's a small plant...

These are all of my larger clones. Some of them you'd be putting into the flower room already if you were indoor or space was a concern. I leave them out on my back porch. That way they get most of the sun during the day but they don't go into flower cause my MH light is right next to the window. So it seems that these plants are doing the best. Out of all of my smaller plants these seem to be doing the best. i would chalk this up to the fact that I am a lazy motherfucker and I don't get up early enough to put my little plants out all day after they get a full night of light. Admittedly the light is inside and I just have a big old fan blowing on em. So I am going to try a little experiment (oooooh mojo, I dunno). I'll take some of the smaller plants and put em outside and see if they get bigger than the ones I put inside at night or not. My guess? is that they will get bigger as if you look at the ones kept outside vs. the ones I keep inside these are a lot bigger. But they are also much older and from clones so there you go... EXPERIMENT STARTED 3/13/11!!!

These are my three larger plants. I took the random ones down. Just chopped em cause some of the buds were looking funny like they mighta hermed out on me and with shitty plants like that who wants to take a chance? So the plant in the back is doing the best, but like I said root rotted. So that's why it's all yellow and shit. the one in front is a squat fat chem dog that I pistil whipped all over. The buds are small now but I'll give it a few more weeks. Plant no. 3, The SSSDH, is finally starting to bud after I hid her from the halide light by putting her behind a bush lol! So we'lll see I bet the skunk plant starts to do a whole lot better now that she can breathe...i just hope the hermies (looked like) didn't pollinate fems. I'll be fucked for sure. pray for me as my xian friends would say!

L-R Chem Dawg put out last week of Jan, it looks ready and is obviously turning all kinds of nice colors but I am waiting for a 420 scope to come in the mail (should be here by tomorrow), OG KUsh x Skunk, this one got a bit yellow because I forgot to drill holes in the bottom of the bucket, hence it got cooked in all the nutes. Definitely a candidate for the hash machine, Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze, fortunately I waited until about a month ago to put this one out, so the buds probably have a ways to go, lastly, another shot of the Chem Dawg, as you can see this strain will go purple on you if you put it out in the cold.
As far as the Chem, I don't know why the buds came out so small. I'm thinking that I put it out too early (late January) so it just didn't get enough sun. Maybe wait a month next year? I'll see how the SSSDH works out and get back to you.

L-R Seedlings coming along, about 3 weeks into it. As you can see when compared with the far right old pic of the new seedlings, seedlings will grow if you treat them right and give them plently of room.... I'm short on cash right now but will be making a trip to the store on Monday to get some Gallon sized cylinders that won't take up too much space under the light. Yes these are my seeds for summer. If you grow them out early enough you can pick a couple of moms and get clones from those and really add to your garden. That's the idea at least this year. Oh, yeah mojo "What about that experiment?" It didn't work. The ones outside stayed small for whatever reason perhaps they will come back but I''m really not worried about it. I've got a few good moms it looks like...

Obviously some clones do better than others for some reason. Some of them are in bigger containters and are still small, some of them are in small containters and are big. I'm just glad I took a bunch of clones of that OGx Skunk plant, as I screwed it up and I will have another chance at that strain this summer.
