Hi guys, a week ago I found out that my PH pen was reading +1.0 and refused to calibrate, I have since been using drops while I wait for my new meter to arrive. Anyone care to offer an opinion?

GH trio to 1.2ec
Sealed room CO2 grow in RDWC
temps lights on 28°c lights off 23°c

Ok so my new pens came today, with the drops im bang on with my PH at 5.8 but I also got a second EC pen and that's showing 1.6 not 1.2 like the old one! Im so fed up with ph/EC pens

but I have only just got these, last PH meter cost me 50€ and it was a piece of sh*t, at least this one you can calibrate with screwdriver to buffer... 50€ one refused to calibrate in the end... this EC meter is exactly the same but measuring 0.3 higher after ec 1.0, I did read somewhere about not putting them in RO water.

Having unreliable meters is worse than having no meter at all.

Definitely don't put a pH pen in RO or distilled water.

Your right except that my system takes so much water I have no real way of knowing how many litres exactly so have to go by EC. What about an EC meter in RO?

I run GH three part with Armor Si and Calimagic. I am usually at 1000 - 1200 PPM. 1000 PPM = 2.0 EC.

at 0.5? that seems high to me! how are you not burning the shit out of them? is that in RO? the pics look like lockout though? starting to wonder now lol.

How do you know it never needs calibrating? have you tried it in a calibration solution?
