can a blue lab ph pen and the ph test liquid be far off pen and liquid are like .8 diff I know liquids a rough idea but still

I'm sure there might be an error between the two.
Just use one or the other. get distilled water, you can use it for calibration. it should be neutral 7.0

I use Poland spring and its registering 7 with liquid and 6.6 or so with meter when I tossed my nutes in pen was 5.6 and liquid would show higher lol

Liquid is my guess more accurate. The pen has a calibration option for a reason my guess it may need to be done. I have a cheap chinese PH pen, but seems to calibrate well enough off the calibrating solutions. I've not messed around too much with the paper PH testers, but you might be able to use the results from the paper test to help calibrate your pen.
