pH up/ pH down for hydroponics in SOIL

I bought some PH up and some PH down. It says to use it in hydroponics systems, I have soil. Should I return this? Or will it work just as well in soil?

Yes it will. The idea is the same as with hydro. In both cases you're using the stuff to get your water at the optimal level. In your case, you want your drainage water to be around 6, if I'm not mistaken.

Be sure and use the stuff sparingly. Just to give you an idea, I keep about 30gal in my rez and I top it off about every day with fresh RO water, which comes out at around 7. I dump in a few gallons and I only need about a capfull or two of pH Down to get everything where I want it(between 5.5-6.0).

ph adjustment of water when using soil is not needed and does more harm than good, thats why it says on the bottle for hydro use. buy soil that has a ph value of around 6.5 good soil buffers the waters ph to the same as the soils ph a few hours after watering, adding ph+/- to your soil will kill the micrro herd/flora in your soil, leading to problems. ive grown soil a long time and never ph`d my water, leave that to the hydro boys.

I completely disagree, ph is extremely important in all growing methods. If i was to water with my nute water mix without adjusting the ph. my ph would be around 5.5 which would be extremely unhealthy for my ladies. my tapwater would be fine because the ph is 6.8 - 6.9 but once i add nutes there is no way i could use that without adjusting the ph. keep your ph around 6.2 - 6.8 for soil !!!!!!!!! and yes you can use those for soil

if you are gonna pH use the water, buy a proper meter for about 60-100$. It's much easier.

You get better results with pHd water, promise. I've done it both ways. You get even better results with RO water.
