I have to ask what brand of soil you using? It's really strange to have high ph in dirt, dirt is usually a low?
terra (soil) can be any ph so you are talking rubbish.
if you buy canna professional plus soil it has a bang on neutral ph of 7.0 with no nutrients.
if you buy for instance b and q houseplant soil it has a ph of 6.5 with nutrients specifically for flowering houseplants.
if you test your own soil that you are going to plant in and it has a ph of 8.0 for instance then add substrates to the soil to lower the ph anything with a higher acid level will do (google it).
once you have the soil set at ph6.5 or as near as damn it, then pot your plants in to it.
do not check the soil AFTER your plant has been growing in it, why would you do that.
if your soil ph is high when your plant is established and then you want to lower it then that is crazy, you would have to think like a madman to try to get a balance where the ph will be adjusted when you add feed so for instance if the soil has a ph of 8 then you add feed at a ph of 5.0 then that is crazy.
it would be like betting a horse and then looking at the betting odds after your horse has lost and the race is over and the horse was 100/1.
the moral of the story, set your soil ph before you plant in it.
