Hello today i checked the runoff of my plants that are in 4 weeks veg so far. They look okey but some of them look sad. My soil got a ph of 6.0 i have added dolomit. How is it possible that the runoff goes on 5.6 when i havent even added any nutes yet. And phing the water to 6.5. Logic it should go the other way and not being more acidic not yet. Please help me / flodas

1: Soil is 6.0
2: no nutes yet
3: added dolomite lime 4 weeks before i poted it so its active

If soil is heavy peat based, dolomite lime can run out, especially if you did not add it in sufficient amounts to begin with and the peat is always driving things down, causing dol.lime to always work, regardless of input water pH, anything under 7 and the lime is reacting. Just a guess, I'm not sure. What soil are you using? Why is soil pH 6? This is not proper soil pH for optimal growth/nutrient uptake. If main base mix is at a resting pH of 6, this is not good from the beginning and there is a battle going on down there constantly with medium driving things down(if peat based) and dol. lime reacting trying to neutralize the acids, until it runs out, runs out quicker than if pH in soil was in 6.5+ range to begin with.

Alright, first; stop measuring ph runoff, focus on keeping ur ph 6.5 secondly dolomite takes a while to balance out so dont expect it to work straight off the bat so to recap

. ph to 6.5, problem solved

Yes the soil is peatbased im from eu so but its one of the more expensive soils. On their webbsite they say ph is 6.0 but on the back label of the soilbag its 5.5 to 6.5..? What am i suppost to do then? I have used this soil before without dolomite without problems. Now i add the correct amount dolomite and its like that? should i start feeding or what should i do :S ?

I know that runoff isint any proper way to measure. Since i added dolomite 1 month before putting the seedlings in its should have begun using powder dolomite. I just cant get my head on what to do except phing to 6.5 some claims u dont need to ph when u have dolomite....

If you have the means to ph always do, it helps alot when one wises to troubleshoot problems.
As the medium drys the ph changes which in fairness is a good thing so when u add say ph so and so to a dry medium the ph will shift just keep hitting at 6.5-6.6(more so flowering 6.6) and u honestly shouldnt have a problem bar plants added needs like Calmag,N and so on....nothing a little experience wont solve.
