pH / PPM - Multi Meter Recommendations ? - (best?)

I would just like to start out by saying, having run a few forums from the 'other side', meaning the web/database server side I truly like the uniqueness of this forum. Not to mention the subject !

In any case, I have a few minor suggestions, one being that there should be a HARDWARE section, where users can get on and rate different types of hardware...

SUCH AS... haha...

--> What do you all believe, in your experience, is the BEST multi meter to check at least the pH & PPM ? (they could have other functions, but alas, I need those).

My grow is going well, was going incredible, but now the babies are slowing down, and I think they have nute lockout.

Thank you & REP to ALL that post !

What phase ( Veg, flowering) are you on? What type of setup, lights, etc are you running? What fertilizer are you using?

If you are more specific perhaps someone can give you a specific answer.

My apologies... shows how much I know.

I'm running a DWC Bubbler, with a 400w HPS and am nearing the 6th week of flower. I'm using Botanicare - PureBlendPro/LiquidKarma/Sweet & some GH Diamond Nectar.

Buds are coming along ok but I would like to now know if I'm on the right path. There are some pics in my journal.

Thank you for your response.

Personally i've been told to avoid any meters that do more than one thing, unless they have replacable probes. That way if it breaks, you dont necesarily have to replace the whole shebang.
Also, i'm of the opinion that PH meters are more of a hassle than they are a help, i much prefer the strips. I find they give me more accurate readings than the shitty meters i've had the displeasure of using. But i've never really used a "good" Ph meter.
As for ppm\ec I'm in love with my bluelab truncheon stick. So simple, factory calibrated, dip it and check it. Has the EC-PPM conversion chart for x500 and x700 right on it, so theres no confusion.
Ultimately the decision is up to you, i'm just telling you whats working for me.

Good luck with whatever choices you make.

be cafeful when buying a multi meter may of the new digital ballast will interfer with the readings making them about usless. at least that was the case w/ a nutradrip meter and my quantum ballasts

I had originally been cheap and ordered a multi-meter off of ebay from china. And after that, I shall never order electronics from china again, the thing didn't even work out of the box but it wasn't worth the hassle of sending it all the way back to wait for a replacement.

I then went to the hydro store and got a pair of Oakton meters, and couldn't be happier. I haven't had ANY problems in over 2 years i've owned it, haven't even had to replace the batteries yet only a VERY simple calibration.

The meters are waterproof, and have detachable sensors on the tips of the pens in case you need to buy a replacement at a fraction of the cost of a new meter.

Basically, I couldn't be happier!

Sweet man, Thank you.

Is there any good places online to buy these meters that you'd recommend ?

Great link, been searching for the best prices for my next tds and this place wins hands down.:hump:

I am in the don't spend the money on a ph meter that costs less than a 100 dollars. I have been burned by them too even going with the cheaper hanna meters and they just don't work. Stick with the strips or the drops until you can afford one of the top dollar meters.
