PH meter

This is pretty nooby of me so figured I am in the right section. I always like to research everything before buying stuff that way I can save money (I have a very tight budget)

would this be a reliable PH meter? It looks like a water PH meter or should I go with a soil meter? (I am growing in soil)

You are correct, that is a water PH meter and will not do you much good in soil.

It's cheap...but it will be ok if you buy calibration solution and check it often. Soil meters are worthless, don't bother with those at all.

also any suggestions on nutes..? Haha. I am considering miracle gro but not sure, I am using soil as a medium just growing with CFL's for now.

I am in the same boat as you, I am currently using a vial PH tester. And am looking to upgrade to a digital Water & a digital soil PH tester. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Reliable soil pH meters run around $400.00. Who still wants one? Unneeded even at $100.00. Good gardening soil, good nutes, no need for any pH equipment.

I'm growing in soil. If your going organic I use old age nutes. And yes I PH MY WATER everytime I water. Here is a pic at 5 weeks with all organic nutes and PH WATER

I bought a digital PH METER for 30 used at the hydro store and the calibration fluid. I wouldn't worry about the soil. Just buy some good soil and you should be ok

I bought the same one from Amazon. It will work for water in and water out. Much easier than test strips. I bought a soil tester too...It works awesome..10 tests for 6 bucks on Amazon!

Dont buy the soil tester...WORTHLESS.....Now, you can buy a digital ph meter for your water that you will feed your plants with. Some like to ph their water before adding nutes. Soil however doesnt need to be checked for ph. So in my opinion, dont waste your money. Simply use tap water that has been sitting for 2 or 3 days to allow the chlorine in it to evaporate. Add your nutes, and feed. Nuff' Said....
