PH Levels?

How do I fix my ph level because the bottom leaves are brown? I know the ph is probably off, I've been using distilled water? Input would be cool, thanks..

the only way to know if your ph is jacked is to test it. you need to know whether it's too high or too low to correct the problem. i use the colored drops from the hydro store. stay away from the cheap probe testers because they suck. my ph test kit cost $12. you didn't mention whether this is soil or hydro but i will assume it is soil. first test the ph of the plain water. then use that plain water to water the plant so the water runs out the bottom of the pot, and catch this water in something (i use the little vial that comes with the kit). then check this runoff. if they are both in range then it is more likely some kind of nute issue. how old is the plant and what kind of medium is it in? what kind of light are you using and what are the temps in your grow area? have you fed it anything? nutes can change the ph of your water also. also remember that distilled water is missing all the minerals and crap of other types of water, so if the plant is getting big it might be time to feed. pics would also be helpful if you can put some up.

Ok I am using a fox farm ocean medium. The temp in the room is 82 daily and 73 at night. My set up is a 400 hps and the plants are about to hit four weeks in two days. Thanks for the advice, o yeah I just fed them Monday with the fox farm big grow nutrient but didn't test ph.

if you are using ocean forest then your feeding timing sounds just about right, you may have even been able to get away with feeding them just a bit earlier. either way it doesn't sound like they should be burnt from that. were the leaves brown before you fed? the grow big will drop the ph of the water a little. definately need pics to be more help.

If you didn't PH the fert mix before you poured it in, it was likely way low. I never used FF nutes, but the Dynagro I use, drops my 6.8 water down to about 5.0, when I add it. Better get some PH equipment, asap.
