Ok...I have a large drum in which to hold my water and I have two questions..1. Is a Ph of 7.5 to high? and can you treat the whole 55 gallons only once? thanks for any info.

Yes, a pH of 7.5 is way too high. For hydro adjust the pH to 5.5 to 5.8 and adjust as needed to keep it in that range.

You can check your pH whenever you need to and adjust it as long as you have access to your reservoir. In fact you will need to monitor the pH and adjust it as it rises. Generally the pH rises. If it falls suddenly, check for root rot. That's an early sign.

Good luck.

I dont think treating the whole batch of water at once is a good plan. Balance the Ph as you use it. When you add nutes that will lower it most times so if you Ph the whole barrell you aint gonna have no idear whut the ph is gonna be after you use it and add the nutes etc. I would only ph it after it was in the res for about an hour. Then check it and give it some up or down as needed. Mine always needed down unless I was drunk and went wild with the down..then you need the up. Si? It works just like a swimming pool. Tap water will raise the ph..rain water will lower it. Algore knows all about the acid rain stuff..global warming etc. Might drop him an email just to make sure.

Well no. Nute however much water you are fixing to dump...then check it and adjust if necessary. After you dump the nutes it will generally lower the ph and be purty close to right if using tap water. Fiddle with it till it gets on the money or close then dump it. Wait about an hour and check the ph of the res and do any final tweaking on the ph in the res to get it in range. If it is slightly to acidic side thats ok because the ph will usually rise fairly rapidly to combat it. Think you will find you go through much mo up than you will down. Hope this helps.

Nutes have buffers to help prevent major ph variation so it is best to adjust your ph before nute then check it again after you add nutes to fine tune if needed. Good luck man!

Guess it depends on the nutes. They invariably seem to lower my ph usually putting it right on the money without adding anything. Course since I been doing the Hempy Bucket thing I aint even touched the ph kit. I just nute and dump. Makes it real easy..but will admit they a little messy.
