pH in Reservoir: gotta go from 7.9-->6

Hi Bubbleheads:

First off, I'm glad I found the site, you guys have a wealth of knowledge to share and for that I'm very thankful.

My inquiry:

14 day old seedlings in BP unit, just got my pH meter today and found the H2O is 7.9!!! How can I safely lower to the prescribed 6.0? How much is safe to lower at a time, and at what interval after an adjustment is it safe to lower again? (I assume this is going to take a couple lowerings at least :-|)

Much thanks to anyone kind enough to answer, thanks in advance.

I was told never more than .3 in a day which in reality is a pretty drastic drop. I fill up a spare res the day before and ajust the ph when filling let it set for a day or two before use.

Thanks, that is about what I had guessed. Lowered 'em already .3 already, guess I'll do another tomorrow. Damn I guess it'll be about 5 days until I'm at 6.

BTW: Funny you mention that, cuz when I got the meter last night the first thing I did was mix up a fresh res-swap worth of nutes with a pH of 6, of course that was before I noticed my 7.9 problem. Hopefully nothing goes wrong with it sitting 5 days!
