ph debate

ok so ive heard everyone on here saying keep ph levels at 5.7 roughly , i bought a book on growing pot hydroponically and it says 6.4 is perfect , and rite now my plants at 6.7 and growing nicely.

anyone else want to comment ?

yea the recommended ph is 5.5-6.5.Some strains can handle a lil higher ph but 5.7-6.3 is optimum.If you use RO water,i find it easier to maintain cause it has no ppm to start with and hardly have to use ANY down to bring it down alot!.I use 1 small drop with a dropper to 5 gal and thats perfect..I am using well water this grow and it going as good as last.

That's very interesting. What is the name of the book?

I've read that it's supposed to be between 5.6 - 6.0. I get my information from various forums so I would be interested in reading the book you mentioned.

In the link below you can see a list of all the nutrients, at what ph they are best absorbed at, and at what ph they become locked out at. Some overlap each other, some are outside of the acceptable range for others.

What I do when I mix my soup is get some nasty ass tap water, throw in some diluted sulphuric acid I made to adjust the ph to around 4.0-4.5 after I add some nutrients. I let the ph rise to around 7.5, and then I adjust the ph back to 4.0-4.5. Once it hits 7.5-8.0 I change out the soup, unless it's been two weeks already.

supposedly, the best hydro ph is 5.8, and soil 6.5. i grow in coco and keep it at 5.8 throughout with no problems. if you're in hydro, and growing with no problems at 6.7, maybe your meter is off. when was the last time you calibrated it? 6.7 is close to neutral...

I'm running 5.8 all day. Got to 5.5 once had to bump her up

I keep mine at 5.8-6.0 keeps the plants looking real nice round here..
