just add-

hydrated lime to your soil.

i do 3 tbs per gallon of soil. that amount will normally last for even the biggest plants.

I have been growing (again) for 3 years now. Have not tried peters, or dyna grow. I have studied quite aa bit of nutrient formulas and believe 1-1-1 is not optimal. 2-1-3 better meets mjs needs.

I switched to VEG + BLOOM from Hydroponic-Research.com about 4 weeks ago and am very impressed. I very much like that it's a powder developed specifically for mj, and a little goes a long way

Check out my journal if you want to see it in action
Is your 2-1-3 NPK ratio coming from university papers or just something you've noticed as you walk around the hydro store? I feel like a lot of snake oil brands do the 1-1-2 ratio and personally I think that's to encourage the purchase of their boosters. I know people who use Jacks 20-10-20 with great results and others who swear by the 3-1-2 ratio for dirt.

Is the 18% calcium in veg/bloom causing any issues that you can tell?

He can't see you, your on his ignore list. If your doing a sidexside to compare to home brewers, shouldn't you do hydro first like he did?
Doing a side-by-side in the dirt proves nothing in regards to the performance of a plant food in a hydroponic system.
i know i'm in his ignore list. but he still reads my posts (hi HB)...

he ran in dirt a few times with dyna. i'm gonna run it in dirt and then in hydro. a complete nutrient should work in both.

Homebrewer I think you're right on target. They are taking the needs of the plant and making it so you have to buy a range of products to meet them. The sad thing is that the novice believes the hype and spreads the misinformation.

to the people using jacks or peters professional in soil. do you see a spike in your ppm after you add ph up to the nutrient solution? I ph my water after adding nutrient and see a spike of 250 after i use ph up. I dont know if using the brand of ph is causing this, im using GH ph up. I been using peters/jacks for a year now with good results but i was just wondering if anybody is having this happen to them too

No, it's a poor choice for a number of reasons........loads of heavy metals and cheap ingredients , it's N-P-K is not geared towards marijuana in growth or bloom, it's not a "complete" fertilizer and numerous others issues- it's cheap for a reason, it's crap.
can you elaborate on which ingredients are cheap?
Keep buying AN.

been using Jack's Classic 20-20-20 ever since Scott's bought out Peter's. i understand that Scott's changed the original formula
which enabled the old Peter's to be made again. Jack, the previous owner of Peters now makes it.

i get excellent results and have been using it on landscape plants also.

the best is Uncle Ben likes it and that's all i need to know.

All Scotts owns is the Peters name and you're right, it is crap.

I've been using JR Peters products since 1972, with no complaints. Usually in 50lb bags.

@ Tom bodett
Thanks for that info on the JR Peters company. +rep
