perlite ?

would you recommend, or have you ever used majority perlite with soil for more drainage, and less moisture be retained? When I switched to larger pot 3 gallon, I tried using 50% perlite, but I wasnt getting any drainage out of bottom holes. Put a "decent" amount of water in I thought, so my question is would you or have u ever used like 75% perlite, for excellent drainage, and is this ok?

if you had poor drainage with 50% perlite there was something else wrong, I normally add 1 cup per gallon of soil and have had great drainage, now I'm about to start a new grow and I'm going soilless, gonna use sunshine mix #4 amended with calcined clay, as my research has shown some good stuff. you might want to check it out
