perlight

so i got some perlight and mixxed in with my soil . Is this going to change my ph ? So up till now i have been sticking my finger in my pots to see when they need water . This becomes more complicated if you have a inch of perlight on top of the soil to keep fungus nats at bay . So i keep fingering my girls and then add perlight co cover the exposed spots afterwards ?
