Perfered Curing Methods

Wanted to get some input on curing methods and what people have experienced using different methods.

I am only on my second harvest and want to get the most out of my efforts.

I have read many articles about harvesting and curing but want some feedback on different methods. Right now when I harvest I will cut off stems and manicure the buds (i.e. trim the leaves off). after that I hang the branches in a dark closet for a week or two until the stem will snap and not just bend. At that point I will move the buds to a large airtight jar and burp them daily for about another week or so. This is usually when the curing ends for me.

Am I doing this right or is there a better way? Should I manicure the buds after they dry? I have read that curing takes one month but I found that this can be done in as little as two and a half weeks.

Thanks,

4.in bag 6hrs

5.open air 12 hrs

6.in bag 4 hrs

continue as neccessary

I'll be in your boat in a few more weeks, I know it's a crucial step, but how much of a change do you notice in taste, smell, smoke?

Has anyone smoked a nug before and after? I know it should be smoother burning and better tasting but it adds another full month to it!! :-p Good things take time I guess.

I cut the plants down and then remove the large fan leaves and any bigger leaves then I hang upside down for about a week. I then remove the buds from the branches and then manicure the buds to a finish look then they go on screen for 3 days light fan moving air around them. Then they get 3 days of brown paper bags opening them once a day for 15 minutes. Then its jar time.I like to jar cure for 30 days but they go in jars and store in dark place and open twice a day for 15 minutes everyday for 2 weeks then once every other day for 15 minutes for 1 week then closed for a week and then smokable..Time and patience are your friend and will show if you wait....Sincerely FilthyFletch..ps always dry and cure in dark

Search the threads here for the water curing method. Takes 7 days from harvest to smoke. I am going to do that because I am way to impatient to wait that long!

This is what I do, and I like it.

with CFL buds (the average ones, not the super dense ones)...

-chop plant at soil level
-cut off branches
-cut leaves from branches
-hang in dark room (mine has very good air circulation without any direct fan action)

10 days later, shit is done. Plastic bag it, and it will mature in there as far as scent and flavor.

Can you do anything besides cook with the leaves you cut off? My plants are covered in crystals, can you ball some of it up and smoke it?

Don't do it!! You'll kill the taste. Weed is smokable after 7 days doing it the regular way, it's just not as good or potent as it would be after 4 wks. Patience is a virtue, my friend.

I dont even bother to hang mine anymore,i just put them in a cardboard box now and when they are dry i jar them up seems to work just fine.:blsmoke:

I haven't tried the method yet but it is an option. I will probably be drying mine then curing via the burping jar method for 4 weeks...I want every stone to be super stony. :joint:

I have read about this as well. It is interesting but I am sceptical. soaking the buds in water just doesn't sit well with me.

Has anyone tried this method and the traditional method with any different results? Better, worse or indifferent?

Exactly right GrowitGreen, Water Curing diminishes the taste and smell, also it can break precious resin glands off the plant material...unless your making bubble hash. Keep your weed outta water!
