You can never put buds in jars too soon, you can only keep them closed too long creating an optimal environment for mold, or you dry them too far before jarring and they never actually cure. People always want a "how long is long enough", but the real answer is how much humidity is left in the bud. Your goal is to have 55-60% RH INSIDE the JAR after having shut the jar tight and left for a number of hours. I've had buds go into jars anywhere from 60-80% RH and just made sure that I monitored their RH levels until they were under 60, they are then sealed for curing.
We use an auto-curing system where each jar has its own hygrometer (humidity meter). Air is forced on a time schedule through the jar and clears out the built up humidity in the jar and slowly removes the humidity from the bud. Once it reaches it's optimal RH (55-60), we seal 'em up and they are now curing indefinitely.
Bottom line, 55-60% RH in your jar is the goal, this will allow your buds to continue to cure. If you are below 55% RH there is not enough water for the buds to cure and the chlorophyl be completely removed.
