people experienced with ez cloner

After I found the thread about adding chlorine to the res to prevent bacteria causing the mushy stems i fired mine up and away I went. Worked GREAT. Mop heads in 14 days hanging in water.

It worked like that for like...2 runs, then I dropped to a 50% success rate (using same amount of bleach). It started worrying me, now I'm at day 9 with not even a root bump on the same strain. *SIGH*. Always wash it out with about 500ml of bleach in 7 gallons of water, let it run that for about 24 hours then drain it, fill it with tap run it about 30 minutes then drain that and put fresh tap water back in when I'm ready to clone again.

anyway, does any of this stand out as not good for my conditions:

water temp: 79F
50 ppm tap water with .4ml bleach per gallon added every 24 hours.
35 watt CFL centered about 10 inches above the ez 60

I run 120 site EZ Cloners and have for many years. Mine are on a ten day rotation where everything gets pulled regardless of root development. My conditions are a little different than yours, as I run a mix of Clonex, AN Sensi Bloom A&B at 1/4 strength, H&G Roots Excellurator, and tap water PH'd to 6.0 at 72 degrees and that gets changed out every ten days when I hand wash each machine insides and out. I then run a mix of drip clean and Clearex for a couple of hours and then dump that and re fill the res with a fresh mix of the nutrients above. I don't fuck with bleach, not to say that it would hurt me, I just don't mess with it. I also have 8 bulb T5's above my cloners and only run 4 bulbs the first 5 or 6 days and then switch over to 8 bulbs for the remaining 4 or 5 days. This helps aclimate them from a cutting to a clone. I would think that your temps are too high and if you lower them a few degrees I think you will find your results get better. Are you using just plain water or a mix of a rooting hormone and your tap water/bleach mix? Sounds like some H2o2 might also help your situation. Hope this helps.

Straight water is my mixture. Now that i'm thinking back I upped my chlorine after i saw some slime. I was using about 1ml every other day. Now I'm adding 4ml every day. Its in line with the .4ml per gallon but I may be adding too frequently. Going to back off to every other day again with the stronger chlorine and see where it gets me.

Could you expand on details?

Whats your water temp/air temp and do you change the res after a week? 2?

I use the cloner 60 off and on....the 60 runs hotter than the 30 or 120 mines @ 80*F

sometimes cuts are picky...i can pull 10 cuts off the same plant...in the cloner some will bump up in a week some will take 12-14days in the winter time it takes longer too

try adding some superthrive

Products like Clonex, Roots Excelurator, Olivias, and the like all share one active ingredient and that is Indole-3-butyric acid, which helps promote vigirous root growth. I've never tried plain tap water, but I could see very few benefits other than saving money. I'm not saying that rooting hormones or enhancers are the key to cloning, but it's obvious that they speed things up and increase a growers cloning success rate. I can get roots in as little as 4 days, but usually around day 6 or 7 is when I get good root development, and at day 10 it's insane. For me the difference in a few days adds up over the course of a year and running a production cloning facility you can see how this would plague me. I understand that you're not running a production cloning facility, lol. Just looking for some insight on the plain H2O idea...

Water temp has been an issue to me with my 30 site ez-cloner. I tend to see weak rotting stems at higher temps. the program with mine is well water and clonex, changed every 7 days. The summer is a real struggle with me, so I quit growing in the summer. I clean mine with bleach water between runs. Just as with humidome cloning, the strain makes all the differnece I've noticed.

curious, is everyone using brand new collars or reusing them? I tend to get new ones, but have reused them.

The only benefit I could guess you'd get from straight water is less for bacteria to feed on? I dunno...im no expert.

You read a lot of posts stating water works just as fast as gels etc.

I do, however, have a bottle of clonex solution and if you're getting mops in 10 ill prob mix it up next batch and see what I get. I've only been using ez for about 2 months approx

Edit:

Although, I am forgetting the subject of why I posted, I was getting mops in 2 weeks water only now not even a bump at day 10 and the only change has been more chlorine

i run a self built aero cloner that sits on floor in veg room and has no dedicated light. i run all pumps 80secs on,8mins off. room temp is 75-78, res temp is never monitored in cloner. i fill cloner and when all have rooted and are moved to veg then it gets cleaned and started over. i have 14 strains atm and all will root in 7-12 days.
