Very nice thread Penyajo...just started my own microgrow...so gonna need lots of help....and this shit looks very educational..:D.haha...subbing..+rep
Let me know when you start up. I will answer any questions I can. Thanks for the sub and rep. STAY HIGh!!!

hey penyajo this might be an incredibly silly question... but is there any substitutes for the lights you advised me? here in the UK they're stupidly hard to get hold of... would LEDs work as good or am i better off trying to get the cfls.
Sorry if I'm annoying you with my uneducated questions but you seem like the one to ask regarding the stealthy grow judging by the amount of info you've given me already.

also... how's the grow coming along now?

I had problems with finding 6500k as well. They are not popular for households by their blue light that's why you can't find them in usual shops. People don't demand them because the blue light is not comfortable for eyes. I searched whole city and found only seven bulbs in there. This was a specialized light shop where mainly they sell stuff for industrial lighting. Try to search this kind of shops. 2700k bulbs are everywhere. And they are cheaper.

Thanks for the help mate.

I've found some 2700k ones online but the 6500k ones are a bitch to find. I don't suppose you know of any similar or even better identical substitutes?

i was looking into LEDs but I'm completely new to this so i don't know what I'm looking to compare. everything else is alright and i have most things i need as i have reptiles. Mainly its just lighting and the adapters i need.

That's my LED question answered.

I'm not a fan of ordering over seas but if all else fails i get them online.

As maarlic said, I'll check the lighting shops and i think also reptile specialists.

I'm looking to start in a few weeks so I'm reading as much as i can and getting all my shit together. I'll most likely end up having to delay by a couple of weeks but i don't mind because I'll have more knowledge and better chances of a successful grow.

Are you saying that there are none 6500k online? I haven't looked myself but have read that there are plenty on e-bay. Just use 2700k while your 6500 are coming to you. There is a blue spectrum in 2700k bulbs but this amount is not enough for entire proper vegetation. But for beginning 2700k will help not to delay your potting day!

no, no, that was just me over exaggerating, there's probably thousands online. its just me looking for a few minutes or so to not very many results.

my girlfriend just suggested dealextreme, and i did find a few but they're mainly LED

i was wondering if this one would be a decent alternative?

I can't give advise there. Haven't done anything with leds. except attaching LED light tapes to furniture at work. But about growing LEDs I know exactly this much as Bruce Willis about ballet

that gave me a giggle.

anyway thanks for the help. because of the lighting thing I'm considering starting two grows. one with LEDs and one with cfl bulbs just for the learning experience.

EDIT: I was also wondering... does anyone have any other general tips on growing? as in nutes and such...

This is by far the most friendly thread I've found on here. A lot of people seem to shun new growers so i just thought I'd ask.

Yep..started two days ago....'slowly putting my closet together.(60cm wide x 60long x 60tall )..so far I have 2x23watt CFLs 1x27k and 1x65k just transplanted the seedlings into their final pot (10litres)..and I'll be putting more beans in, since all I got are regular (not fem) seeds..so I plan to grow more...(12/12 from seed) and just kill those who are either weak or males......at the end I hope to find 1-2 strong individuals and scrog them ( as soon as I find a suitable screen :D ) ..then I'll add 2 more cfls...

also I need to get a working fan and something to put on the walls...( I got some camping insulation you put under your mat and sleeping bag..think it could work? it reflects quite a lot of light) and thats it for now...whatcha think?

Decided to go ahead and switch the girl over to flower tonight. Really havent seen any growth in the last few days. Thing she has a cal/mag def going on. Going to grab some epsom salt when I am out and about next. Any ways I will take a picture when I see some growth or figure out whether this thing is a girl or a boy. STAY HIGH!!!

do you keep that in the same pot the whole time? it seems a little shallow for mj to me you should check into air pits you could prolly make your own with that glad bin just using something hot that way there is not stunted growth from root bound.

i love airpots the holes in the side air prune the roots so you can basicly keep in the same pot the whole time and maintain rigorous growth throught.

Yeah I keep it in the same pot the whole time. Can't really transplant with her attached to the rack an and all. I have grown plants in the pot before with out any issues. I really don't think she is root bound. Just going to give her some cal/mag and see if that help. STAY HIGH!!!

Yeah dude i was wondering the same thing because I have the same pot as you. Might order a couple of those airpots if i can find any small enough to fit in my pc cuz i want to try two plants. Im going to get 2 clones today finally I only have 2 of my little ones left alive still. It was that mg organic. I have some happy frog with lots of perlite to add so i think Ill be good now. Can't wait to get this pc grow officially going, I bought some new light adapters to add a couple more cfls but Im thinking of trying some sort of leds in the near future because. They would make my box even stealthier

air pots are the best imo all my flower plants have them. they fit together perfectly like legos so you can cram alot more into your space and you never have to worry about transplant cuz of air prune.
its kinda one size fits all with them. unless you are trying to grow a 5ft tall tree then you obviously would want to go with a bigger size.

i was thinking of growing with airpots the whole way thru till flower then making a type of hydro container by then the roots will be coming out of the bottem grate and i can suspend them in water nd add bubblestones underneath them
