Pennywise is an excellent high-CBD strain bred by the legendary TGA Subcool Seeds. Like most of TGA’s strains, Pennywise produces a very high level of total cannabinoids. Producing an even ratio of CBD and THC, it can produce close to 30 percent total cannabinoid. That means this is an excellently crafted medical cannabis strain. Though, recreational and wellness consumers also have plenty of reason to love Pennywise. Here’s why.

Though this bud is a cross between two sativa strains, it is considered a 70/30 indica-dominant hybrid. Jack the Ripper and Harlequin parented this strain, creating a flower that produces CBD about 70 percent of the time.

Pennywise is a beautiful flower with emerald green and purple coloration. Buds are often coated with a thick layer of milky white trichomes.

This flower is an impressive producer. Pennywise tends to feature between 12 and 15 percent CBD and roughly the same amount of THC. A fact which makes Pennywise a one-to-one cannabis strain.

Pennywise expresses four distinct phenotypes. All phenotypes produce at least a little purple coloration. The most common difference, however, is the structure of the flower, which are typically either thin and long or round.

The aroma of Pennywise can also vary depending on phenotype and growth environment. Some samples may feature a sweet, almost bubblegum-like aroma. This sweetness, however, is grounded by a base of earth and wood. Some find that Pennywise has a sharp kick, sort of like inhaling a whiff of black pepper.

The Pennywise experience
Pennywise might provide a slight psychoactivity, thanks to the THC present in the dense trichome crystals that cover this bud. However, it would be difficult to really call the effects of this strain a “high”. Instead, it provides more of a smooth and mellow experience, perhaps almost as if someone lowered the volume a few notches.

While alert and happy, this is a laid back flower that can quickly knock out stress while still allowing you to get things done. The effects of this flower have been described as very clear-headed with a slow onset physical relaxation. This bud does provide a little bit of pep, but just enough to help you concentrate and go through your daily tasks with ease.

Due to the high CBD content, this strain is not as likely to cause the munchies as other cannabis varieties. In fact, some may even find that this strain slightly suppresses appetite. Pennywise also tends to have a minor sedative effect that makes it easier to fall asleep, sort of like a calming cup of chamomile tea.

Why do people use Pennywise?

As a one-to-one strain, Pennywise is extremely versatile. Recreationally, this strain is great to break out when you’re in the mood for something relaxing but not overpowering.

This strain would be a great choice for the workday or for any time you need to remain calm and collected. Those who experience social anxiety will likely appreciate the easygoing and lightweight vibe this strain produces.

In terms of medicinal value, there is evidence to suggest that combining both CBD and THC may enhance the therapeutic effects of both cannabinoids. This is what makes one-to-one strains such important additions to just about anyone’s medical cannabis toolbox.

High-CBD strains like Pennywise are often helpful to patients with severe conditions like epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, cancer pain, and more.

Studies have shown that CBD is a strong anti-inflammatory, which is a major reason why the cannabinoid has such far-reaching potential. Inflammation has been touted as a root problem in modern disease, contributing to symptoms and conditions as diverse as diabetes, arthritis, and depression.

Combining CBD and THC in a strain like this applies some of the pain-relieving, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects of this cheerful flower.
