Peltier cooling for a 100w led chip ?

Guys im going to have a crack with some 100w leds now rather than passive air cooling with a heatsink, could i use a powerful peltier ??? would a 100w peltier be ok for a 100w led chip ?

It could be done, but unfortunately the system efficiency would drop to levels lower than fluorescent, but still with the LED price tag and would require a heatsink either way. There are other tricks that can be used, like the vapor cooling heatsinks used in the Kessil LED, although that is a questionable economy as well compared to simple active or passive cooling with standard aluminum heatsink.

the idea is good but unfortunately the efficiency, to date, is very low and inconvenient as a practical application....
to dissipate 100 watts in a given area, would have to calculate how much heat you have to remove to get to the desired temperature...
you can explore the cpu overclocking world for get and idea....
good heatsink and good fan are more simple and practical...right now....

I've got this great idea for a perpetual motion machine. What do you guys think?

1) First I have a generator generate electricity
2) have the electricity power a light
3) shine the light at a solar panel to generate power
4) use that electricity to power "energy efficient leds"
5) Make sure to take some of the energy from convection and give it to a peltier. That will give a nice spin to the project.
6) free power!!!

The Carnot cycle came to mind...

Although the idea of having solar panels on the bottom of the grow area has crossed my mind in the past as a way to IDK salvage some of the lost light emitted from COBs, I figured it wouldn't be lucrative.

Good for you Church for thinking ideally ;).

not free power but... i liked

very expensive at start ...too

independence energetic its too expensive in this days...

Why stop there.

We're wasting energy by blowing wind off into nowhere. We could put wind powered generators behind the fans to recapture that lost energy, and use that to power even more fans!!!

Also it has been about 100 years since Tesla "invented" wireless electricity, what gives? The Coral Castle dude knew its properties probably,.......Easter Island? no one has really looked into whether or not they used friggin electricity! from an earth ground aka "wireless"....they just assume they were too primitive....

one thing I know from formerly living in a volcanic desert, some rhyolites and andesites conduct electricity, very well...aka obsidian pumice are two extreme examples, basalt being lower in silica than andesite too...
