peat moss amount

A 3 cubic ft bail of Premier Sphagnum Peat breaks apart to how much when not compressed? I am trying to figure out how much compost/worm castings to add to make my ROLS. I have been growing using subs super soil for the past couple years and I have been using roots organic as my base. I want to try a base mix, neem meal, kelp meal, crab meal and mineral mix, and compare the results to the super soil.

Don't exactly know how much it expands, but quite a bit.

It's pretty simple, though. Just bust up the peat moss first, then measure out how much you want... Equal parts Peat/perlite/worm castings (or compost) works well for a "base mix". 2/1/1 peat/perlite/castings also works well.

FYI- You will need more ingredients than that to build a healthy soil. You need a good phosphorus source, like fish bone meal. You'll also need some quickly available nitrogen; something like alfalfa meal or fish meal will do nicely. Or blood meal, but I personally prefer not to use it.

The ingredients you listed sound great though. Neem, crab, kelp, and minerals are all staples in my mix.

Spicy, thanks a lot man. I have fish bone meal and alfalfa meal here already so that is a bonus. Are those at half cup per cubic ft of soil?
