PC OS Systems .......

no,

simple reason for me

if it aint broke, don't fix it.

i have however got a few little bits and bobs to make it look different and work slightly differently. has a sort of mac feel to it.

Ubuntu. I'm not running it on this particular machine, but we do run a Linux box in the house. I like the idea of open source software with frequent patches. It is inherently more stable than Windows, with no where near as many security flaws. I'm not comfortable dual-booting operating systems, so until I get another hard drive specifically for running Ubuntu, I'm not installing it on this computer.

:peace:

I run exclusively Ubuntu at home and my laptop for work is dual boot WinXP/Ubuntu. Iv'e got a VoIP server running Gentoo Linux that I maintain as well.

I can do so much more with Linux than I can w/ Windows (network related stuff, hacking/cracking/security tools and such) and it's all freely available software. As a network designer, this stuff is important to me.

Im a linux head as well.

MSI MOBO
Dual 8800 Nvidia gts gpu
2 HDD sata @ 500gb each
Quadcore Processor
4gb ddr3 ram
and more!!!!!! I love building pc's.

I have XP on my desktop and Vista on my laptop, simply because that is what was installed on them when they were bought new... I also run Linux on my ps3

ive never used an operating system system before....

naw jk

im using vista 32 bit i like it

i had fedora on the ps3 then i got sober and was like wtf! i already have 3 pc's. haha. yeah its not pretty looking though.

Do people use anything other then Windows XP or Vista??????????

If you do .......... why?

Too jaded to start repartitioning drives and running multiple OS's. I got a bit pissed off when the uni I worked at (IT Admin) decided that Microsoft was the way to go and they were dumping all *nix based systems. As one of many IT administrators, I had to start supporting the operating system and architecture that was decided upon by a bunch of non-IT commitee members. "Oooh, we have Windows 98 at home, why can't we use windows at work too?" Do you realise how much you have to fuck around with NT to get it to run barely usefully on a network? Then we had to give all users admin access to their local boxes because their were too many restrictions in place ("my wallpaper resets every day"..."I can't use my webshots"). All this from upper echelon IT illiterate fools. Then came w2k, then XP.

I guess I have now been assimilated.

Once I get some time to clear my head, I might play and set up a *nix system. But for now I have far too much on the backburner that needs to be done...
