Parents in the cannabis world

I was wondering how some feel about using when they have kids (of course responsibly). How do people explain it to their kids or do they hide it, or wait until they are a certain age to talk about it at all. You always see in movies or shows or even in real life a mom with a glass of wine and the kids just playing ball (on the cellphone/tablet) in front and everyone just seem to ignore it or think nothing of it.

Now why is it not the same for cannabis? I feel like you would get a lot of hate your way if you even voiced you choose to use it for whatever reason while being a parent.

so I would like to see a few thoughts on this topic

I absolutely dreaded the day I had to sit my drugs down and tell them the hard truth about teenagers.

I feel like this my be a very touchy subject for some to talk about but I feel like it needs to be.
The image of "weed" has been made out to be the gate way/other bad images.
The true history never comes out.
I know my parents never spoke to me about it when I was growing up and I just learned from high school kids
so you know kids learning from kids can be good but not in this case.

again am just curious on how people are handling /dealing with this talk :D

Thanks for the point of views guys!
and the joke.!

My daughter is 9 and we don't smoke "around" her, but we also don't try to treat it like its the big bad wolf and hide things or act secretive. She sees us smoke "cigars" and "pipes" with our friends some times from a distance or if she happens to walk past the doorway to the other room we are in and its just a normal part of life. We havn't had "a talk" about cannabis yet because there has been no need. We don't smoke anywhere she could get contact from it. Hell frosty the snow man smokes a pipe, Gandalf and all the Hobbits smoke pipes, Santa smokes a pipe, the list goes on and on so us smoking pipes is nothing weird. As it happens I'm also a glass blower, so its extra normal for pipes to be around because thats just part of my work.

My daughter found out me and her mum smoke and grow when she was about 23. My slightly older son still doesn't know.
They have however always been encouraged to ask any drug question and have been surrounded by people who can answer them (one of those people is a research scientist).
My dads 78 and still smokes. My mum was never a huge smoker but hers was the 60s, she just prefers a wine instead of.

In my opinion its the kids being born today were there will be no stigma attached to this subject. Unfortunately through lies and bad information anybody over the age of 10 right now has some sort of pre conceived notions. In time it will be no different than drinking and smoking. But on the other hand I smoke tobacco and I certainly don't do that around or in front of them lol

Good ol social conditioning eh? Thing is now the movement is getting STRONG..........please replace the wine in your sentence with 'joints, blunts, bongs, pipes' or whatever you like , eventually it will be as normal as the wine and not batted an eyelid about.

I just dont lie to my kids (most people seem really good at that , not implying anyone here does) , straight up.......you ask......I tell..........if I think its something I should tell you I will tell you. Sat my (very mature)son down at what 10-11 , explained my cannabis use to him , explained other drugs to him and I will continue to do so and share MY experiences with him to better prepare him for when he inevitably has his.

People see a bit of smoke and they lose their fucking minds..............not ONE FUCKING BIT bothered about their kid walking past THOUSANDS of cars right next to a main road spewing out what id imagine are 100s of cigarettes a second...per vehicle , plus all the petrol and especially diesel particulate.

'go outside and get some clean air'..............clean air my fucking arse.......should see what 'clean fresh air' did to the net curtain near my intake pipe...........its soot black in the only place its been pulling.....guess what......fresh clean air.............lol.

Depending on age, they are generally unbiased in their thinking and offer brutally honest opinions. They rarely suffer from paralysis by analysis, don't overthink things and will often times see the most efficient way of doing something immediately. Kids are open minded and, usually, more coachable than adults. This makes their learning curve much easier.

Most kids haven't formed destructive habits. Kids can let go of problems much easier due to shorter attention spans. Children are far better at giving unconditional love.Kids ALWAYS choose play over work.

my personal opinion is that parents should be real with their kids. If you have a kid and your are trying to play role model of the best parent you will end up alienating your kid. keep it real

My son is 11. We lived in Colorado for most of his life so he's familiar with it and with me using it for medicine. I have a couple disabling degenerative conditions that make our lives very difficult, but he knows that the medicine I take is natural and helps me. When we moved to Dallas it was pretty hard to explain to him that he can't talk about it at school or to anyone because they don't see it as medicine yet. I wouldn't sit and smoke in front of him until he understands more about it, but for now, just knowing that it's a natural medicine that is on it's way to being recognized and legalized is a good start. And it helps show him that he doesn't have to hide these things from me down the way when he begins to experiment with his friends.
